Confuscious Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I want to try the Peltier Diode/Cooling element. At Ebay and different other websites, kits are offered at a very competitive price. I contacted the seller(s) for more information about the kits, but the reply was between "No reply" and repetitive information which was not asked for. I would like to know if ThaiVisa members have purchased a Peltier Diode/Cooling element and what are the results? TIA
Crossy Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 What are you cooling and what is its environment? I looked at Peltier devices (often called TEC or Thermo Electric Coolers) in the past but ended up using a regular liquid cooling system on my mildly over-clocked i7. Peltier devices are not very efficient, to pump, say, 100W from your CPU (or whatever) you have to supply 200W in electrical power to the device, so you actually have to dump 300W to the environment. Of course, if you're making a portable cold box to keep the beer cool you have a whole new environment with much less stringent cooling needs (and it doesn't have a constantly running heater [CPU] inside). Peltier cold boxes work well. EDIT You may find this interesting http://www.heatsink-guide.com/peltier.htm "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
RichCor Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I seem to enjoy posting youtube videos today. Hmm. KECO Eco Cooler installation + New Ice Box — Sailing Uma [Step 73] The 'electronics' are discussed at 6:30 In a previous video they stated the device technically is supposed to drop the current incoming sea water temperature by 25° C.
