Hi,

I recently suffered a crash on my laptop and had no way of shutting it down. With the desktop, I could pull the plug in desperation, but this is not an option with a laptop - I could upend it and take out the battery, I suppose.

ConAltDel did work in the end, but it took forever!

What do others do if their LT crashes?

Pressing the power on button for an extended period, 30 seconds plus, works on my HP/Compaq 8220.

as astral says, or on many laptops there is a "mains" switch, which will shut down the laptop instantaneously. It's usually hidden on the side or below. If it is a Slide switch, hold it "slid" til the LT goes out.
