Luke Miller’s family vow to get justice after he was found dead in Koh Tao

He was nearly twice over the limit, climbing on to the roof was dangerous even if sober and yes, according to reports in the UK media he had traces of drugs(which should not be mixed with alcohol) in his blood on the night he died.

Dead + head injuries at the bottom of a swimming pool is not evidence?

Where is your evidence he died at the hands of the Thai Mafia? ....and not the most probable explanation which is a drunken accident?

Again, you misrepresent. Luke (that's his name, by the way) had traces of Ritalin in his blood, a residue from taking it several days earlier. He did not have a 'dose' of the drug in his body, so could not possibly have been high from it, and trace levels don't cause adverse reactions or interactions.

There is no evidence whatsoever that Luke climbed up on the tin roof: it's just a theory put together by the local police. And it can't be corroborated by cctv because the cctv, which had been working perfectly well earlier when filming Luke drinking at the premises, stopped working or was erased for the period covering the tragedy. That in itself would raise a huge red flag in an investigation in any civilised place. But not on Koh Tao.

By the way, the first policeman to liaise with Luke's family was asked by Luke's sister if Luke had been murdered. The policeman's reply was "Probably." And Luke's travelling companions talk of a litany of lies, contradictions, backtracking and story-changing by the authorities on Koh Tao. But people like you prefer to believe the Thai  police version of events. Hardly any Thai person ever trusts or believes them, but a few farangs posting prolifically on internet message boards do! How strange!

Khun Han ...Are you going to answer my question or not?

If he had head injuries and not just a head injury, of course the most plausible conclusion is multiple hits to the head followed by being thrown in the pool and subsequently drowning.  One head injury you might attribute to being drunk, and then stumbling or slipping into the water and then drowning. Such accidents do happen.  But multiple head injuries?

I don't misrepresent anything, the facts remain: he was nearly twice over the limit and had traces of a drug in his blood that should not be mixed with alcohol....

He could have hit his head, first on the broken roof and then again on the concrete pool...

I'm sure the UK pathologist would have known and said if a weapon had been used to inflict those injuries.

Some of us already know what facts are available and so refrain from wild accusations.

And you again misrepresent: it's biologically insignificant when traces of drugs are present with alcohol.

The pathologist gave an open verdict.

There is "no evidence" a British backpacker who was found dead in a swimming pool in Thailand was murdered, a coroner has concluded.

Luke Miller, 26, of the Isle of Wight, died on Koh Tao island in January 2016.

Coroner Caroline Sumeray said: "It has been suggested this was a cover-up by the Thai authorities but there has been a very thorough police report."

onthesoi, I have already pointed out discrepancies such as the missing cctv, and the testimony of Lukes travel companions which contradicts the police story. Are you going to provide some proof of "the most probable explanation" which is a theory created by the Koh Tao police which doesn't have a shred of evidence to back it up? And repeating your nonsense about a trace element of Ritalin interacting with a moderate amount of alcohol doesn't back anything up.

And all of us with experience of Thailand know all about thorough police reports, don't we? I doubt Caroline Sumeray has much experience of such things, but she still isdued an open verdict.

You're clutching at straws or even less.  A drunk man who enjoyed risks is found dead in a swimming pool. What witnesses are there to foul play?

There are very few facts available, and the police theory can't be classed as one.

1) Luke had been drinking, but wasn't blind drunk.

2) Luke had small traces of Ritalin in his blood, but not enough to have any physical effect or interactions.

3) The cctv, which had been working perfectly earlier, stopped working or was erased for the period of the tragedy.

The cctv. But it was switched off or erased. Happens a lot on Koh Tao, doesn't it?

cctvs don't work all over Thailand you may have noticed.

But it's way beyond any rational probability that CCTVs which have been working fine for days/weeks/months suddenly have no recordings - lost or accidentally deleted or machines suddenly broken - right at the time that vital evidence from them is needed.

Then there are the same couple of people contributing to this discussion who - despite all the suspicious events and circumstances which wouldn't have any standing in a western society - seem to be saying  " . . . it's all totally normal and explicable".

One time like this is a 'maybe' . Fair enough.

Twice like this within a short space of time might be conincidence. Eyebrows raised.

But with five debatable deaths over a three year period,  plus one blatant and undeniable rape and double murder, and including one inexplicable complete disappearance with no body having been found (only four months ago), any thoughtful person has to ask . . .  on exactly which planet is this considered 'normal'?

The missing/broken cctv could be that they buy the cheapest shit and never replace it when it brakes. Sounds like typical thai thing to do..

Or it could be that the murderers are on tape... Who knows.. Its all speculation.. We dont have all the facts so we dont know either way...

We do know that thai police tend to be extremely lazy and extremely easy to bribe. Again.. Doesnt.prove anything. But thai police word is basically worthless,, specially when tourism is at stake. Guess who benefits most from tourism on koh tao,,, i think they are called "influential figures" because they have money and money = influence ... Anyone denies that is out of their mind... On the other hand.. If you believe ALL these deaths are murders you are also out of your mind... Basically if you think you know anything for sure either way, you're out of your mind

But the cctv had been working in the early hours of the morning, when it recorded Luke drinking there. The police have viewed this segment of it. It only stopped recording/was erased for the middle hours of the morning when whatever happened to Luke happened to him. That's what stinks the most about this: it would be a huge red flag to any western police force. But it was a thumbs-in-the-ears and hands-over-eyes moment for the Koh Tao police.

He was seen on CCTV cameras drinking in the bar in the early hours. Were the cameras turned off when the bar closed? Did they point to the pool?

.He was not seen in the pool when security guards searched the pool and surrounding area at 5.30 am. He was found dead in the pool at 7.20 am.

Have you got a link saying the CCTV recording was stopped or erased in those hours?

Once the stairs are climbed, the roof appears(in your pic) to be at chest level, I'm not sure why you think its impossible or even remotely difficult for a fit young man to manage?

No, nothing is impossible, you are absolutely right! However, it is a bit higher than chest level, and the roof is not so stable (agree?) and there was also barbed wire (would explain the cuts) to prevent people from climbing on that roof to do exactly what Luke has supposed to have done.

Now, if Luke indeed wanted to have a refreshing dive because he was pissed one would believe he dives of the springboard, right? I mean he is alone! Nobody to impress! OK, if he was on hallucinating mushrooms and thinks he was superman I could agree he wants to jump of the roof, but the autopsy does not confirm that. He had alcohol in his blood ok, pissed yes, but not so dramatically.

So what happened? Lets look at the CCTV, oops didn't work.

Look Koh Tao is a party place with some bad dudes around, dangerous oh yes, with completely <deleted> up Farangs and even more <deleted> up Thais and a very corrupt RTP I suppose on the payroll of the influential. Poor parents, don't try to get or find justice here, it simply will not work,  for Luke it was a case of wrong place, wrong time how sad it may be or sound. Never ever underestimate the 'Loss of Face' factor in Thailand, it will get you killed!

Luke,  I don't think you dived of that booth, I think they beat you up for whatever reason and left you to drown, maybe your own fold, maybe not.....

R.I.P.

You still have not provided a link, to your claim the cctv stopped working. Just no cctv covering the pool ?

The cctv of him was at the bar.

You call into question the quality of Thai police reporting in high profile cases.....

Yet, you're ready to believe an offhand comment, allegedly made by a Thai policeman because it's suits your tinfoil conspiracy?

Source: hearsay

So you can't provide a news link to any missing cctv then ?

I don't need to Dan. You're the one who needs to provide a link to it's existence. But you can't, because it doesn't exist. Don't you understand how this works?
