Thai Visa For Cambodian Nationals

Can anyone tell me if a Cambodian national requires a visa to enter Thailand or do they receive a 15 or 30 day visa on arrival ??? If a visa is needed what is required ???

Cambodian nationals do require a tourist visa to enter Thailand.

This can be obtained from the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh.

Before that they need a passport.

Before that they need a family book.

Mostly they do not have identity cards.

This is a grey area since so many Cambodian nationals are smuggled into Thailand.

There are special arrangements for Cambodian nationals to enter Thai border provinces.

For this they need only a smaller cheaper mini passport.

For example the residents of Koh Kong province in Cambodia

can enter Trad province in Thailand with this special passport.

That is mostly what you see at the border.

They cannot visit say Bangkok without a full passport and tourist visa.

Thank you very much for that info.

We're in luck. My fiance's long lost sister, brother, mother AND father have all been located in various parts of Cambodia. Brother and sister have ID cards and family book. Next week they are off to get passports and visas. This will be the first time in 17 years they have all been in one place for a big reunion. I've already wired money and the wheels are in motion.

It's going to be a Very Happy New year !!!

To re-activate this thread: What does it take for a Cambodian national to actually obtain a tourist visa to Thailand? Will an invitation by a non-imm O holder do? Additional guarantees? Any experiences?
