JackThompson
I think you are referring to the two crossings near, which are Ban Laem and Ban Pakard. Someone just reported no problem at Ban Laem for a non-O in/out, other than the usual 300-Baht fee on the Cambodian-side for returning the same-day. Getting there: To Chanthaburi - by bus from Ekamai. Then catch a mini-van either at the bus-station (available at certain hours, maybe) or from the mini-van offices near the Tesco-Lotus (a short ride from the bus-station) which go directly to the border. You may need to mention the mini-vans near Tesco to the taxi-drivers at the bus station, before they "remember" you have that option; they would prefer you pay them to go the full-distance, which is another (more expensive) option.
