PTT resumes natural gas supply after emergency shutdown

By The Nation

SONGKHLA: -- The emergency shutdown of the Malaysian-Thai Joint Development Area (JDA A-18) on 24 June 2017 has ended, Noppadol Pinsupa, Senior Executive Vice President, Gas Business Unit, PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) has said.

Natural gas transmission from the JDA field was back to normal a day earlier than scheduled and resumed at 3.42am on July 11, while Chana power plant received natural gas at 8.21am and PTT NGV Chana Mother Station in Songkhla will be able to supply NGV this afternoon.

The NGV situation in the lower South will gradually return to normal.

During the shutdown, PTT supplied substitute fuel to ensure sufficient supply in affected areas.

Thirteen million litres of diesel oil were distributed by truck to the Chana Power Plant, while 3.6 million litres of fuel oil were shipped to the South for power generation.

Regarding the natural gas supply in the eastern part of Thailand, PTT has requested natural gas from other gas fields in the Gulf of Thailand to ensure no impact on electricity and industrial sectors.

“I would like to thank all the related parties for their cooperation, especially the electricity sector and NGV users in southern Thailand.

“With great concern for the inconvenience caused during the shutdown, PTT closely monitored the situation and did our best in managing the NGV supply to sufficiently serve all of our customers. For any further queries, the PTT Contact Center at 1365 is available 24 hours,” Noppadol added.
