Deserted
How much impact will carrying a 10kg load have on your back for a ride that's about 25kms. How much more effort is it going to have.
StreetCowboy
Depends on the hills. If it was me, I'd just guzzle the lot en route and tell the guests the shop had sold out of beer
Deserted
he he, well you can't really guzzle clothes, hills aren't that big tbh
tifino
I'd prefer to have a 10.5kg load (includes the rack, to take the sway away from the back)
moonoi
For such a short distance I don't think you will notice it, when I commuted by bike to the office (in Bangkok) about 22km each way I used to carry a backpack with my laptop and change of clothes in it that weighed around the same and didn't have any discomfort or really notice it to be honest. el jefe
I notice the load when I'm carrying groceries home from the store 300 meters away. If you want to know exactly how much extra effort will be required, there is an online calculator that will compute the extra wattage required. StreetCowboy
If it's a one-off, just go for it. At least then you'll know for the next time...

If you google "calculate cycling wattage" you'll get this simple one: http://bikecalculator.com/ Just change the weight to account for the backpack, then make the speed constant and you'll see how many extra watts you're using. Or this more complex one: https://www.gribble.org/cycling/power_v_speed.html
