Mae Sot health officials on alert for H1N1 virus

MAE SOT: -- Health officials based in Mae Sot district of Tak have stepped up surveillance of arrivals from Myanmar at the border checkpoint following reports of H1N1 swine flu outbreak in Myanmar.

 

Chief of Mae Sot Public Health Office Manas Tachompoo said that health officials had been stationed at the border checkpoint to screen people suspected of being infected with H1N1. He said about 4,000 people pass through the Mae Sot-Myawadi checkpoint everyday.

 

In Mae Sot township, health volunteers of the two countries have been coordinating to prevent the spread of the virus.
