BANGKOK: -- Two more suspects wanted for the abduction and extortion of a Singaporean businessman were arrested on Tuesday (Aug 15), raising total suspects arrested to 10.

Of the 10 suspects arrested, five are military officers, and one is a police officer. The gang leader was alleged by the police to be an army general attached to the Royal Thai Armed Forces headquarters, Maj Gen Jaroon Ampa.

They allegedly involved in the abduction of Surachai Sae Yang, president of Kanta Group (Thailand), and Songsak Virojthavornkij, the company manager, for 20 million baht ransom on July 14. Police earlier managed to arrest eight suspects, while the other two suspects–Thitikorn Chuen-ura and Utis Korkaew, a retired military officer–were at large.
