Blowing hundreds of billions on overpriced-rice over three years   vs  blowing tens of billions on military-hardware over several years ? :whistling:

The billions rice scheme circulated internally lifting domestics economy and revenue collection was at record high. The billions in military hardwares goes out of the economy and are trade deficits. Stark contrast and poor defense for the military extravangance defense spending.:post-4641-1156693976:

Eric you're deliberately ignoring the point I made quite clearly, it's a matter of scale, Thaksin's rice-scheme wasted hundreds of billions, while the military's recent orders only waste tens of billions.

Of course I'd prefer to see the money go on other more-useful things, but since you want to raise it, the military-equipment will last for decades, whereas the damage caused by Thaksin to the local rice-growing industry will only last a few more years. Hopefully.

Thailand has a US$2 billion trade surplus, one of the reasons the baht is so strong. But I notice you don't want to comment on my post re the rice scam, how a company owner bankrupt and owing the state billions was given billion baht no-bid agency fees. Doesn't that sound like corruption to you?

Yingluck AND her Government set up the rice pledging scheme. Totally dishonest and corrupt people then abused the system and robbed an estimated 469 Billion baht. It strikes me that it is the people involved with the corruption who should have been chased down, assets frozen and be in court. The fact this is not so, in any major way, has "political prosecution" and witch hunt written all over it.

Also considering she did not need money.  It looks like it was the people below her that saw opportunity, and a poorly planned and monitored program.  It was ripe for corruption, so she should have let that money touch very few hands.  As we often see, it looks like incompetence strikes again.  As we also see, there is incompetence everywhere, so she should only lose her chance to hold office, not monetary penalties imposed

5555 Does her brother NEED the money? Does that stop him being involved in corruption? She was a stooge for her corrupt brother, who, now that her accounts have been frozen, allegedly sends a few million baht each month. Explain to me how that is not benefiting from the corruption she facilitated.

Once more, the charge is criminal negligence resulting in unnecessary loss of state funds. The penalty should be financial AND incarceration.

Very safely. The man has been a parasite on the Thai nation most of his life.

I suppose you are assuming her and her brother are complete idiots.  If they were going to pull something like that, don't you think they would wait a little while, and do it in a more inconspicuous way?  Or, maybe that's how you would do it?  My advise to you...don't be a criminal   I'm not a fan of either side

Did Thaksin care when he announced the loan to Myanmar to buy from his company? Did he care when he ordered KTB to loan a billion baht to a company that immediately folded? Did Yingluk care when she gave preferential treatment to Apichart whose last company still owed the dept of commerce B6 billion?

Remember they are elected, they can do ANYTHING they want - according to many here.

My advice to you is don't be so bloody naive.
