Chaipreuk Sereerak

The Education Ministry’s permanent secretary, Chaipreuk Sereerak, is going to lose his current post in the upcoming major reshuffle.

The Cabinet yesterday endorsed Education Minister Dr Teerakiat Jareonsettasin’s reshuffle plan, which sought to transfer Chaipreuk out of his current important position.

Chaipreuk will be made the secretary-general of the Education Council instead in the new line-up, according to the plan.

Karoon Sakulpradit, secretary-general of Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec), will become the new permanent secretary for Education. Karoon’s current post will go to his deputy at the same office, Boonrux Yodpheth.

A source said Chaipreuk’s transfer would be seen as a demotion because the Education Council is smaller than the Education Ministry.

“[Talk of] such a transfer has surprised many, given that Chaipreuk is well respected and highly experienced,” the source added.
