Men's teams and officials with gold medals.

Thailand won the SEA Games men’s football gold medal for the 16th time following a 1-0 win over hosts Malaysia at the Shah Alam Stadium on Tuesday.

The game was rescheduled Shah Alam instead of Bukit Jali by the organisers, claiming the initial venue needed reconstruction.

Both sides had several scoring opportunities but neither could manage to send the ball home during the first 30 minutes of play.

The ice was finally broken in the 39th minute when Malaysian goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Bin Nadzli mistakenly punched the ball into his own net.

More than Bt15 million intencive money both from the government and private sectors (Bt5 million from CP)  will be awarded to the team for their acchievement.

Thailand again successfully defended the gold medal which was considered the most significant medal in the sport extravaganza  even though Malaysia will conclude the Games tomorrow as the overall champion by winning more than 140 golds. Thailand and Vietnam came second with 70 and 58 gold medals after August 29.
