Panic as fire breaks out at Kanchanaburi hotel

By The Nation

KANCHANABURI: -- Hotel guests and people attending a seminar ran for their lives after a fire broke out at a well-known hotel in Kanchanaburi’s Muang district on Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of the Ratsuphamit Hotel at 9.30am. Guests and attendees of the seminar, which was being held on the hotel’s ground floor, rushed out of the building after the fire alarm sounded.

Eight fire engines arrived quickly and officers put out the blaze in matter of minutes, leaving only smoke inside the hotel.

Kanchanaburi deputy governor Narong Rakroi said the fire started from a short circuit in the motor of air ventilation system in the kitchen. The fire spread to the ventilation pipe, ceiling and floor of the kitchen.

He said the fire only damaged the kitchen and no one was injured.
