Hope this is better.

Eric, before you start posting links in an attempt to trivialise the value of the fraud, you could at least read it yourself. I know there are a lot of words, so I will cut and paste for you.

"..... two fake government-to-government rice deals involving with 65,000 tonnes of milled rice worth about 847 million baht."

I'm sure you liked that bit and got all excited. But....

"Boonsong was also faulted for involvement in four other fake G-to-G rice deals with four Chinese firms.  The deals involved  14 million tonnes of rice."

Oh dear, there goes the happy ending.

What I am saying is that the Thai courts have zero credibility and less than zero credibility when it comes to political cases.

None of the Shinawatra's are my heroes.

I would be just as comfortable with an elected Prayuth as an elected Yingluck or an elected Abhisit.

I prefer democracy to dictatorship, tyranny, fascism and plutocracy, that is all.

Many cases are not air tight, the majority of political cases aren't air tight and worse still, there are many air tight cases that don't even make it to the courts.

He may be corrupt, he may not, unfortunately the Thai courts have zero credibility so we may never really know then truth.

I for one, would be willing to bet a large sum of money that this guy does not serve the full 42 years.

Once democracy returns, the injustice served up to Boonsong and many, many others will be rectified and they will be released.

A red shirt was found not guilty today of the bombing in Minburi.

I'll tell you what, I won't be defensive and emotional if you stop posting lies to defend PTP criminals.

Eric, regarding pastry gate, if you read the enclosed link you will see  that Thana Tansiri, a legal representative of Thaksin Shinawatra was  implicated. When interviewed by the Investigation Panel,  he tried to pass the incident off as a case of his driver giving him the wrong bag, one with 2 million baht as opposed to a similar one with pastries in.

5555  Another honest mistake like the time Thakin spent several years putting millions of baht in the names of his servants  ( why? could it have been stock manipulation?)

Interesting quote from your link:

The judiciary may prove capable of marginalizing Thaksin, but risks a perception that the courts are increasingly politicized. End Summary.

Yep, Reds, both criminal and non-criminal,all guilty.

Too bad the yellows still can't win an election though, isn't it.

The situation is hopefully moving beyond the childish definitions of reds and yellows.

Yellows have their own divisions, leading to a parting of ways among many members and  Pheua Thai  politicians likewise, may sense the end of an era. Behind the scenes  many may be seeking a new future, away from the restrictions of their previous labels.

Could it be the progressive thinking and forward members of both colours and parties, Pheua Thai and the Democrats, are able to move beyond their own patrons to construct a better vision of the future of Thailand ?

I believe one day, in the not so distant future, this may take place.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all the progressives are on the red side as are all the best possible future versions of this country.

Yellows just aren't needed (or wanted).

There are plenty of people in the Democrat Party with visions for the future. Dr Surin for one.

Nothing in your link where he speaks out about the lack of democracy Thailand is currently experiencing... he's part of Thailand's past, not it's future - chuck in the mile high pile of worthless yellows.

To quote:

Dr Surin expects the current governing body, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to allow Bangkok governor elections as a prequel to general elections in a signal that democracy is returning to the country.

He said that Bangkok was “an ideal place to start with” because its citizens were the “most democratically active” in the country.

Outlining for his programme, Pitsuwan said as governor he would play an active role in modernizing the capital and turn it into an internationally-oriented smart city “with transparency and efficiency in management” and the assistance of its people, as well as into a place where people can participate in the political process and scrutinize it in a functioning checks-and-balances system which would contribute to national reform on a wider scale.

He also said he would invite entrepreneurs and even foreign expats to deliver ideas how to make Bangkok more modern, livable and prosperous, with an administration that would respond to the citizen’s needs.

So he thinks the coup and its repercussions are good or bad, or did the coward avoid the topic?

Arresting him is just bursting a insignificant fuse...

not much of an acheivement,  assuming...assuming that higher above, they were corrupt and guilty of embezzlement.
