Appointments of new police chiefs yet to be publicly disclosed

 

BANGKOK, 31st August 2017 (NNT) – The deputy prime minister in charge of national security has confirmed that the promotion of new police chiefs has been concluded and the Prime Minister was involved in the process. 

Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon, who is also the chairman of the Police Commission, said on Wednesday that the latest meeting of the commission has reviewed the appointments of 183 police officers, which included the promotion of the new chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. 

Gen. Prawit said that all appointments under the review have been confirmed as proposed by the national police chief. 

He also confirmed that there has not been any change to 55 positions mentioned in earlier news reports and that the Prime Minister has not intervened in the review. 

Meanwhile, national police chief Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda said today that the appointment of the city police chief has taken into consideration his experience and the result will be revealed in three days.
