The irony isn't lost on me that the MAGA Pizzagate QANON nutjobs made a lot of hay of release the files and Trump's hand was forced and he may well have helped to bring down the House Of Windsor. The King should now tell Trump no state visit pal.

Just heard the news about Andrew. Unbelievable! They have him in a cell on his 66th Birthday! Very nasty, very disrespectful. I was just with the King in September for the Second State Visit—an UNPRECEDENTED honor, nobody else has ever done it—and we had a wonderful time. Charles is a great guy, a very elegant gentleman, but he is being surrounded by weak people like "Nobody is Above the Law" Starmer.

I will be phoning the King later today to offer him my full support and the benefit of my great experience with these "Witch Hunts." I told him in September, "Your Majesty, you have to be strong!" If he needs my help dealing with the Deep State or the Fake News Media over there, I am 100% ready to take the call!

The Epstein "Files" are a total Scam and a Hoax designed to distract from the failing UK economy. I’m the only one who never went to the Island, but the failing NY Times won't tell you that! SAVE THE MONARCHY! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Sure Trump will support that guy, birds of the feather flock together, both sex offenders they protect eachother... Maybe, let's hope Trump time is coming

That is the ONLY thing that matters in this World .

Doesn't matter about the charges or who was arrested .

Is a British man guilty or not ?

Doesnt matter ,

What did TRUMP say about it is the only thing of importance .

ALL eyes on the Don

Sick isn't it. Kinda like jury nullification, everything points to guilt, mountains of evidence, credible allegations stacking up for years, yet some folks will still acquit in their minds (or cheer) the second someone deflects away from the topic, turnsit into Trump as he weighs in with a shrug, or feels badly for the family .

One could argue, and I do, that anyone foolish enough to marry Fergie deserves their comeuppance.

Police falling over themselves in a frenzy to arrest the white guy for possibly leaking business secrets, but not long ago they were running scared of dealing with Pakistani rape gangs.

And everyone pretending they didn't know what was going on at the time .... there would have been police security with Andrew 24/7, but now it's a big shock, horror revelation 😅

What I read in the BBC, Andrew is "suspected" of committing a crime. Is this how it's done in the UK, people are arrested before gathering evidence?

Yes, in the UK (as in the US, for that matter) a person is often arrested in order to bring them in to a police station for questioning as part of the process of gathering evidence. Now, a person can be brought in and questioned under caution without being arrested, but as the BBC reporters talking about this today pointed out, if they are arrested, it makes it quicker and easier to obtain a search warrant to look for evidence in the person's dwelling(s), offices etc.

If they don't arrest them, getting a search warrant may be more problematic, so if they were only taken in under caution and return home before police have had a chance to get a search warrant for the place(s) where they think evidence may be, they could potentially start destroying any evidence, before the police can get to it.

As the article below points out:

Arrests & Interviews Under Caution

... the Police [...] have the power of arrest. If a crime is suspected, then an arrest may be made.

https://blackfords.com/service/criminal-defence/arrests-interviews

After being arrested, a person may or may not be charged with a crime, depending on what evidence the police then uncover as part of their ongoing investigation.

Are they allowed to have a lawyer present during the interrogation? Sorry for the dumb questions. I'm not sure how the UK legal system works.

A little odd, wasn't he arrested over mentioning some business deal he had done to Epstein who then went on to make some money out of it somehow.

Classic insider trading by Epstein, but unless old 'airmiles Andy' knew his intent then I doubt it's even illegal to mention your work to some guy you know - unless of course there's a lot more to it, and/or a pattern of this type of behaviour on an ongoing basis.

Which is why they will be interviewing him, in some naive attempt to get him to incriminate himself.

His lawyer will tell him to keep his mouth shut and make no comment.

I doubt the police have arrested him without having very strong evidence against him.

He’s as thick as two short planks, look at the mess he made of his attempt by televised interview to spin his relationship to Epstein.

Yes, if the police have reasonable grounds that a suspect was involved in a crime, and that an arrest is necessary, to secure evidence, to prevent self harm or the allow effective investigation. College of Police 101. Officers must record their grounds for suspicion and necessity.

There is information already in the public domain, and there is additional information not in the public domain, such as Stantead flight logs. There is the grounds for suspicion. As for necessity, probably for the former Duke's own welfare, he needs to be taken into custody. Note the difference from the US; no degrading "perp walk" in chains.

There is a very good chance no charges will be made. Less than 15% of arrests result in a Summons in England and Wales, and less that 6% result in charges. Politically undesireable, but let the Law take its course.

Creating content like that is a clear forum rule infraction:

Provide accurate, helpful, and truthful information.

You admit to posting a fiction, but have tried to present it as an actual quote. Your created a fake social media post in the style of the US President, with no included caveat. Fake news like this is a scourge.

People are arrested so they can gather evidence.

Most of the evidence comes from any interview should the suspect decide to open their mouth - or computers.

This guy had a long time to prepare - I doubt they will find anything - but whatever is in the Epstein document dump is out of this control......
