It's a British owned forum in Thailand right? Can someone explain this to me? There me be interesting things worth talking about in the rest of the world right? You know that since all the news is centered around one country that its filled with more journalists opinions than facts? In reality there's about just as much going on in this country as in any other country, except this one is the only ones where people are free to speak about. I can speak whatever I want about the UK, but only because I'm not there. Is there anywhere other than USA where I can use social media to complain about leadership and not worry about the consequences ?

ASEAN NOW is a Thailand-based forum with an international membership; the nationality of its ownership has no bearing on what members are entitled to discuss.

There is certainly plenty happening elsewhere in the world, and members are welcome to discuss it in the appropriate sections. However, the suggestion that the USA is the only country where people can openly criticise their government or leadership without fear of consequences is simply not correct. Many countries, including the UK and numerous other democracies, protect political expression and routinely see vigorous public criticism of governments and political leaders.

Thailand has its own laws and restrictions regarding certain forms of speech, and members should of course remain mindful of those. But none of that requires us to centre world-news discussion on one particular country, nor does it prevent members from starting discussions about events elsewhere. If there are subjects you believe deserve more attention, you're very welcome to post them.The "Political soapbox forum", "what the papers say" were created for just such discussions, neither of which is country specific.

The Brits have always been obsessed with what goes on in the U.S./North American Continent. Even way back in the early 1600's.

The British here seem to really hate the U.S. so much. From my observation, ask a British about America and they will go into a emotional charged anti America hate rant. Ask an American about British and they seem to just shrug their shoulders with no real opinion otherwise. Aren't they suppose to be some of the strongest allied countries in the world? Sad.

It's like when there's an accident on the highway, everybody slows down and looks. Well the big accident in the world is now the US and everyone needs to look and talk about the disaster.

As for content, it seems the OP does have an internet connection, so he is perfectly capable of writing and posting anything he wants, rather than bemoan what he thinks is limited content focus. Other people do that, but that fact seems to offend him, if folks seems to focus on one nation.

Politically the US is fascinating that's why........everywhere else is, by comparison, boring.

What other country has a leader that has had to pay $5 million compensation for sexual assault, suppresses files that might show he abused children, cheats at golf, cheats charities and sleeps with hookers.

On top of that, every single, major promise he made to the electorate has been broken.

Everyone either looks up to the US as a world leader, or looks down on them when things go sideways, as they are a world leader and there are expectations. Some of those are legitimate and some aren't.

The US is all countries in one place, so the world's people expects them to act like they do where they live, which is reasonable to an extant. All cultures and thinking in one place, and that makes a lot of good ideas and stupid thoughts, depending on who makes them.

A world leader because of all these minds together, with some of those minds making major decisions that can hurt or help others. One president after another, all making promises and changes, some of which have helped tremendously and some that have hurt both our economy and that of others, as the US is a major trade hub.

Our leaders are responsible for helping Americans and all other countries to keep peace and that world trade going, but sometimes certain leaders make a decision that angers not only other countries, but the citizens of the US also.

Every country has problems, and the leaders are a major part of them, and all we can hope for is the next one making decisions that will fix the prior one's mistakes.

It's just a numbers game there are about 5 times as many Septics as Brits in the world.

Also the larger percentage seem to sit at home with a keyboard while Brits are more likely to be in the pub.

Septics are by reputation louder than Brits so...

Brits should sit back quietly and bask in their tax-free world.

From what I can gather 1776 for the Brits was a choice between the sugar revenues from Jamaica versus some beaver pelts from the 13 colonies.

I think allot of it has to do with President Trump and his vision To Make America Great Again. The left wing socialist Democrats in the U.S. hate him for that because they do not want the U.S. great but only socialist excepting illegals that will turn the U.S. into another third world country. Well, if you're going to put it that way, I might have to reassess my belief in Trump as the Second Coming.

I guess I was just too impressed by him pulling an almost Isaac Newton thing (inventing calculus) when Trump invented the New New Math, where he brought drug prices down "600, 700%".

Truly, I was fully prepared for him to win a Nobel Prize for that.

I guess we'll have to be content with him winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, the guy started just one war with Iran, but he has ended that war---what is it now?---38 times? If that doesn't deserve a Nobel, then the US should nuke Norway.

Funny thing, we have had leftist governments in Australia since Federation. Thanks to them, we have a functioning health care system, medications which don't cost an arm and a leg, and a life expectancy 4-5 years better than Americans. That won't improve, with the imbecile who is in charge of US health.

Not sure if you realized this but life expectancy worldwide has probably peaked. Technology has improved but trust among humans is declining. Unless AI can start diagnosing and treating us it doesn't matter what your Healthcare is like because the hospital staff you rely on these days are all incompetent and chronically of the opinion they are all underpaid all the time. Healthcare is a mess everywhere who are you trying to kid

Australia has not had continuous leftist governments since Federation. Non-Labor/conservative parties (Liberals and predecessors) have governed for the majority of the time. You can of course correct me if you think I'm wrong.

The PBS and Medicare deliver advantages. That is true in form of lower patient drug costs and broader access. However they were built and maintained by both Labor and Coalition governments and not “leftists alone.”

Life expectancy is higher in Australia (roughly 4 years). That gap is real and longstanding driven by multiple factors like violence, overdoses, obesity, coverage, lifestyle and not simply “leftist governments.”

If you take out black on black crime, leftist and BLM riots (leftist policies like letting repeat offenders go) it would be close.

Calling the current U.S. health leadership an “imbecile” is just name-calling and measurable price declines undercut the claim that nothing can improve.
