Europe Says Russia Aids Iran War Effort, Warns United States

European allies say Russia is providing more direct support to Iran than the United States has publicly acknowledged, according to diplomatic sources.

Get today's headlines by email image.png

Officials from several European countries have privately and publicly told American counterparts that Moscow is materially assisting Iran’s military activities.

They argue the conflict involving Iran is increasingly linked to the war in Ukraine, pointing to growing cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Europe warns of deeper Russia–Iran cooperation

A British official said defence ties between the two countries have expanded significantly in recent years. According to the United Kingdom’s assessment, Iran supplied Shahed drones to Russia for use in Ukraine and also transferred production expertise.

The official said this exchange has contributed to advances in Iran’s drone warfare capabilities, although they could not confirm any recent transfer of hardware from Russia to Iran.

France and Ukraine raise intelligence concerns

Jean-Noël Barrot, foreign minister of France, described the relationship between Moscow and Tehran as “two-way cooperation”.

He said there are reasons to believe Russia is now supporting Iran’s military efforts, particularly operations that could target American interests.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine, said Kyiv possesses what he described as “irrefutable evidence” that Russia is supplying signals and electronic intelligence to Iran.

According to Zelenskyy, intelligence briefings indicated Russian satellites photographed several facilities linked to the United States and its allies across the Middle East.

Locations cited included the joint US–UK military base on Diego Garcia as well as sites in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.

Zelenskyy made the remarks while visiting the United Arab Emirates, where he has promoted Ukrainian anti-drone technology to Gulf states concerned about Iranian attacks.

Washington plays down impact

Senior US officials have taken a more cautious public stance on the extent of cooperation between Russia and Iran.

Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, said Moscow’s actions were not affecting American military operations.

“There is nothing Russia is doing for Iran that is impeding or affecting our operation or its effectiveness,” Rubio told reporters following a meeting of the Group of Seven countries.

However, other Western officials have taken a stronger view. Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, said Russia is providing intelligence support that could help Iran target American personnel.

She told G7 leaders that Moscow was helping Tehran gather intelligence and providing drone-related assistance.

Broader security concerns among allies

John Healey, the UK defence secretary, told the BBC News he believed the “hidden hand” of Vladimir Putin could be seen behind Iran’s military activities.

US defence secretary Pete Hegseth said the administration of Donald Trump was closely monitoring contacts between the countries.

A recent assessment from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said there is “selective cooperation” among Russia, Iran, China and North Korea.

The report said the countries share a goal of countering US influence but stopped short of describing their relationship as a full alliance.

Meanwhile, demand is increasing among Israel, Gulf states and Ukraine for US-made missile interceptors used to defend against incoming attacks.

Rubio said current transfers of defensive equipment to Ukraine had not yet been affected by rising demand in the Middle East, although he acknowledged the United States could redirect weapons in the future if necessary.

The maga fascist Trump regime knows already and doesn't care as they've been on side of Putin for a very long time already.

As an American I consider my own government an enemy agent.

Recently members of the Russian duma were invited to take a tour of the U.S. capitol invited by a delegation of maga fascists.

If it's supposed to be America first helping a nation that is targeting U.S. soldiers is a form of treason.

I hear you. You're a Putin fan so best ignored.

Doh..........because Russia started a war by invading Ukraine!!! Then trump eased sanctions on Russia so that they can provide Iran with military info to help kill American soldiers. As has been said many times before, Putin has something on donnie so donnie does what Vlad tells him.....sad, so sad that the folks in the US can't see this.

I used to think he was the most reasonable man in the Trump cabinet but he's gone from being fairly level-headed to being a blazing idiot following the path of his ridiculously dumb leader.

In my mind there's no doubt Russia is aiding Iran, and I think that China is likely aiding them too, at a minimum with significant financial assistance, which they can then turn around to use to purchase weapons through their proxies.

Why wouldn't they be helping Iran? It feeds right into all of their goals and ambitions, they know how much of an imbecile Trump is, and they're taking advantage of the door that he's opened very widely for them.

Knowing how twisted Trump's mind is, and knowing how psychologically impaired the man is, it would not surprise me if a scenario like that was correct. In most nations a leader doing something like that is tantamount to treason, which would be punishable by death.

However since the US Senate is unwilling to even investigate some of the massive amounts of corruption that are going on with Trump and his family, he would likely be allowed to get away with treason too.

It is nice that the Europeans are so concerned for the USA. The change of heart seems a tad coincidental, not that I doubt Russia's support of Iran. After all, they both kept Assad in power for 14 years and created the destabilizing invasion of refugees into the west.

Speaking during a visit to Qatar, Zelenskyy said Kyiv’s intelligence agencies had evidence Russian satellites photographed a US installation shortly before it was attacked — an incident that left American troops wounded.

Satellite Images and a Strike Days Later

According to Zelenskyy, Russian satellites captured detailed imagery of Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 20, 23 and 25.

The base was then struck by Iran on March 26. Zelenskyy said the pattern matched a familiar sequence seen in battlefield targeting.

“We know that if they make images once, they are preparing,” he said. “The second time is simulation. The third time means an attack is coming.”

Russia provided detailed intel that helped Iran wound US troops at airbase: Zelenskyy

Basically the US/Europe have been helping Ukraine attack Russia within it's own borders so it is a bit rich to cry foul now. Of course Russia is helping with humint and satellite intel and no dount China as well. There have been quite a few very high def Chinese pictures popping up on social media which are probably real.

Iran scored direct hits on this US air base - their tech and tracking is spot on - not bad for mad mullhas subject to decades of sanctions and effectively made in-house.

The photos reportedly taken at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, show the destroyed remains of an aircraft.

The jet which was hit was identified by Air and Space Forces magazine as an E-3G 'Sentry' airborne warning and control aircraft.

The plane is one of the US military's most critical eyes in the sky and was reportedly left ravaged following a strike by at least six ballistic missiles on Friday.

Around 15 service members were injured in the attack, including five seriously, PBS reports.

In one image, the aircraft's midsection appears to have been blown apart, exposing the internal components in a jumbled wreck.

In another, the tail section lies detached, collapsed onto the runway amid scattered debris.

Photos 'show destroyed US Air Force planes' after Iranian...

Dramatic photos appear to show the remnants of a US Air Force E-3G surveillance aircraft after an Iranian missile and drone attack on a Saudi air base.

Gemini says;

If you’re looking at that E-3 Sentry (AWACS) plane—the one with the giant rotating radar "mushroom" on top—you are looking at one of the most expensive pieces of aviation ever built.

Since we're talking in March 2026, there are two ways to look at the price: what they cost to build and what they’re worth now as they’re being retired.

1. The "Brand New" Price

The E-3 Sentry hasn't been in production for years, but when the last ones were delivered, the "unit cost" was roughly:

  • $270 million to $300 million USD per plane.

  • In today’s money (adjusted for 2026 inflation), that’s closer to £350 million to £400 million GBP per aircraft.

Not enough, not enough. Moscow needs to give Iran the much-vaunted 200 knots surface skimming VA-111 Shkval torpedoes to send the Lincoln and Tripoli to the bottom of the Arabian Sea.

Or, maybe they already have. We'll find out when they try to get close enough for a ground offensive.

I actually feel sorry for CentCom - they will have some of the world's best soldiers , intelligence and equipment of any army in the world and then you have the idiot Trump/Hegseth and the rest of his band of clowns who are actually in charge. We have seen his sharpie hurricane, bleach cures and the rest of his fetid nonsense but this time the pushback is real and deacdes in the planning - and a rampant Netanhayu who has waited decades as well to create a Greater Isarel by sowing chaos in the region. They are the real threat and always have been. No talks are possible Iran now given the treatment of its leadership cadre has no alternative to fight to the finish with all and every means at their disposal and they have the world's throat at their disposal - something that that has never happened before in say Iraq/Vietnam/Afghanistan.

Yep, Greater Israel is a metastasizing cancer. It needs to be put an end to asap. I have hope though. The fatwa against nuclear weapons for Iran died with the old ayatollah. A 20kton explosion about half a mile in the air halfway between Tel Aviv and Haifa should do the needful.

Israel’s military doctrine includes the 'Samson Option' a last-resort strategy of massive nuclear retaliation should the state face total annihilation. Given Israel’s status as a 'one-bomb country' where its population is heavily concentrated in a tiny geographic area such an event would likely trigger a global catastrophe and millions of deaths. This reality fuels a long-standing debate within Jewish thought: while Zionism sought safety through a sovereign homeland, some critics argue that concentrating half the world's Jewish population in one volatile region creates a singular, existential vulnerability that the Diaspora’s dispersion historically avoided

This is not theoretical anymore. Israel is getting battered. And when they run out of interceptors - likely within weeks - Iranian heavy missiles will have free rein over Israeli skies. So there is already talk in the Hebrew press of deploying the Samson option before Iran goes nuclear, again likely within weeks.

We ain't in Kansas anymore.

Which invariably leads to the Benjamin Button proposition for Israel where time so to say reverses and Jewish immigrants return to their respective homelands and Israel disbands.
