Karoline Leavitt to Depart as Trump’s Press Secretary

"Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" - the title of the last show from the "iconic" TV show MASH.

The difference is stark: MASH was beloved, remembered fondly, and carried cultural weight. Karoline Leavitt, by contrast, exits as an “I CON” — a figure who lied, distorted, and weaponized the press podium in service of Trump’s endless grievance machine. Her combative tenure was defined not by truth but by repetition of baseless claims, most notably the fiction of a “stolen” 2020 election.

The spin about “family priorities” is a convenient curtain call, but the reality is clear: she leaves with Trump’s approval ratings scraping historic lows, his party facing uphill midterms, and her credibility in tatters.

Unlike MASH, no nostalgia will soften the memory. This departure is less a farewell than a reminder of how corrosive propaganda corrodes institutions.

It was always my fun to count how many times she said "INCREDIBLE" as in GREAT! in her press conferences never noting that 'incredible' can also mean 'not believable'.

The smell of POTUS's turn outs has most likely got to her .

Leavitt to step down at end of August

The announcement comes with less than a month having passed since Leavitt delivered her first White House briefing after returning from maternity leave. She welcomed her second child in May.

Leavitt confirmed her decision to step down in a post on X, expressing gratitude to Trump. She described the job as the “honor and adventure of a lifetime” and said she was thankful for the opportunity to work in his administration.

She said her position as a mother of two was central to her reasoning, adding that balancing the role had been “rewarding yet challenging”.

Leavitt wrote that, after returning to the White House following the birth of her daughter, she had concluded she could not be “the best mom” her two young children needed while also devoting the “constant time, energy, and attention” required of the press secretary role. She said the decision was “bittersweet” and that she would “embark on a new chapter”.

Background in Trump’s campaign and administration

Leavitt became the youngest White House press secretary in history when she took up the post last year at 27.

Before becoming press secretary, she served as Trump’s spokesperson during his 2024 presidential campaign and his transition. She also worked in Trump’s first administration and in roles associated with Republican Representative Elise Stefanik.

Earlier than that, Leavitt ran for Congress in her home state of New Hampshire before joining Trump’s 2024 campaign, but lost the general election.

It was not immediately clear who Trump will choose to replace Leavitt.

Acting briefings during her leave

While Leavitt was on maternity leave earlier this year, a rotating group of administration officials delivered press conferences from the briefing room. Among those who held briefings were Vice President J D Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

During Trump’s first term, he had four press secretaries: Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kayleigh McEnany and Stephanie Grisham.

my guess is either she just got tired of lying for him
or had a run in with the "new" lady that's always with trump

She has a young family. It’s understandable. She also can no longer keep her lies straight due to baby brain. She will be replaced with someone equally dishonest and repugnant.

Fortunately there's lots of jobs requiring photogenic liars...

For example, Lindsay Graham's sister or Charlie Kirk's widow.

Two people left behind with no powerful liar in front of them.

The best press Secretary the white house has ever had. A real star she will be sorely missed.

1) Better to jump before a ship sinks 2) More time to be a paid talking head on Fox News 3) Write or have a ghost writer author a book about "my incredible experience as press secretary" 4) Start a podcast. 5) Fade away from public view and truly devote her time to raising her young family.

Perhaps not surprising after her boss abandoned her and left her to fly home in a terrorist-targeted airplane!

She’s smelled which way the wind is blowing, and is putting distance between herself and the stink.

She had a child in May and wants to be a full time mother for the next year. What's wrong with that? She is 28 and her husband is 60. I doubt the old guy is getting up at 2 AM to change nappies.

If you were aware of the facts she lied about, you might not be so enamored. Her last parting gift to Her Dearest Leader was to go on Fox and say to the brainwashed masses how the country is now safer and more affordable than it's ever been. Frankly she's sickening. I personally saw Mary Kay Laterneua one time, and while she could be considered easy on the eyes, she was a despicable excuse for human flesh.
