Russia Warns UK It Is ‘Playing With Fire’

Russia has warned that it could retaliate against the United Kingdom for its support of Ukraine, including by striking military targets inside and outside Ukraine, as reports said the director of the CIA warned the Kremlin against attacking Nato.

On Monday, Andy Burnham, the UK’s prime minister, said the government will allow Kyiv access to classified technology to help it begin producing Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles. He said France has also agreed to provide missile technology. Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said on Thursday that Britain and France were “playing with fire”.

Burnham Accuses Russia of ‘Outrageous Threats’ in Kyiv

In response to the latest Russian threats, a Ministry of Defence official reiterated UK support for Kyiv. They said Britain is committed to supplying equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Russia’s “illegal invasion”, and warned that Russia should not doubt the government’s resolve to stand against aggression both in Ukraine and against the UK and its allies.

CIA Director Visit and Nato Attack Warning

The Wall Street Journal reported that John Ratcliffe, the CIA chief, visited Moscow on Tuesday after a US intelligence assessment that Russia might be preparing to test Nato with a limited assault on an allied country. The assessment described a range of possible actions, from a cyber-attack to a small-scale incursion, with a Baltic state considered likely.

Russia has repeatedly issued threats against western allies during the war in Ukraine, including statements interpreted as veiled nuclear warnings and others aimed at diplomatic missions in Kyiv.

CIA Director Warned Russia Against Attacking NATO Countries

Asked about the report of Ratcliffe’s visit, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, dismissed it on Thursday by saying that much of the material being published was designed to cause alarm and had no link to Russia’s intentions.

Missile Interceptor Shortages in Europe

The focus on Russia’s intentions has coincided with fresh reporting about shortfalls in missile interceptors available to European forces. The Associated Press said the US military is facing a “beyond critical” shortage of advanced missile interceptors in Europe, citing a US defence official in Europe and a Nato official, and linking the shortage largely to the disruption of supplies during Donald Trump’s conflict with Iran.

The report said the most serious gap concerns Patriot missile interceptors, which can be used against high-speed ballistic missiles. The Nato official confirmed low Patriot inventories among American and Nato forces stationed in Europe. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Escalation Signals and European Readiness

Russia is widely viewed as considering further escalation after months of increased Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refining infrastructure and other sites that have added economic pressure. The Kremlin’s rhetoric has also grown more hardline as the war has moved closer to Russia’s borders.

Recent statements included a nuclear warning directed at Japan linked to the disputed Kuril Islands, alongside descriptions of relations with the United States as being in a “crisis” at a historic low.

The Ratcliffe warning, according to reports, resembled an earlier caution given by his predecessor, William Burns, in 2021 ahead of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow denied it was planning at the time.

Meanwhile, Nato countries neighbouring Russia have begun increasing readiness. Poland said this week it received its first shipment of South Korean Black Panther main battle tanks, with plans to deploy them near the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region. Poland’s deputy defence minister, Cezary Tomczyk, said Warsaw was preparing for the possibility of a full-scale conflict and, in remarks reported by Super Express, said the country was preparing for war while hoping it would not happen.

Funny how he singles out the UK, so many countries are helping Ukraine, Poland, Dutch, Germans, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Canada, Baltic's, to name just a few

The UK doesn't have much power anymore, now it doesn't have a trading block to back it up - so can easily be bullied. Of course it has a nuclear detterant, but small scale attacks on the UK have done more damage to the UK than anything weaponry.

Brexit, rise of far right, rise of disinformation on social media, donors all seem originating from Russia.

Nuke attacks on Brit population centres only kills immigrants.

Russia has no UK targets (that anyone would consider a loss).

Our American colleagues are always in a hurry to bury us. You remember how in 1918, the Americans officially declared our Empire nonexistent and arrived in Vladivostok without a visa. Suddenly feeling the Soviet boot on their faces, they changed their minds.

I think history is repeating itself today.

It is not Americans but the Lessons of history. The Muscovite Empire only 300 years old and Russia itself 800 . It has run its course. Emulating Rome which over 1000 ebbed and flowed until its final demise.

As the successors of the USSR in the UN (that is, as the USSR under a different name), in accordance with the Almaty Protocol (which includes Ukraine's signature), we remind Ukraine and its friends that Moscow transferred land to an independent Ukraine only on the condition of neutrality.

Two AI I consulted say it's not true and that there was no neutrality clause in the Almaty protocol!

Would you be lying? 🤣

Ukraine: The Rus' state emerged in the late 9th century.

Kyiv was the political and cultural center;

Moscow did not yet exist at that time or was insignificant.

And following this historical precedent, Ukraine should claim ownership of Russia! 🤣

The Almaty Protocol: Russia == the renamed USSR. Therefore, to legally secede from the USSR, Ukraine must appeal to Russia and follow the procedure of Soviet Law 1409. Although this did not happen, Vlad explained that Russia decided to recognize Ukraine's independence based on the Declaration of Independence, which stipulates its neutral status. It's like you can avoid signing a lease and live in your neighbor's apartment for free, as long as they're willing. And if you throw a party with a swastika, your neighbor will have every right to show you the door.

Ukraine is a fully sovereign, globally recognized nation whose independence does not depend on Soviet-era legislation or permission from Russia. The claim that Ukraine must appeal to Russia or follow Soviet Law 1409 is legally incorrect because the Soviet Union was not renamed; it completely dissolved in 1991, rendering all Soviet laws obsolete.

Try again...

Declaration of Sovereignty (July 19, 1990): Section IX states: “The Ukrainian SSR solemnly proclaims its intention to become in the future a permanently neutral state that does not participate in military blocs...”

Let me tell you this: the Western press often says that Vlad is a KGB agent. This is probably useful to create a certain impression on the audience. However, for some reason, they don't mention that he is a professional lawyer with university education. So if he says something legal, it's most likely perfectly accurate.

"it completely dissolved in 1991"
The problem is that the authority Gorbachev created to declare the dissolution of the USSR is not provided for in the USSR Constitution. It would be like you creating a "Main Council of Russia" authority, which is not provided for in the Russian Constitution, in your apartment and declaring the dissolution of Russia.

The Belovezha Accords: On December 8, 1991, the leaders of the Russian SFSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and the Byelorussian SSR signed the Belovezha Accords. This treaty explicitly declared that the USSR had ceased to exist as a subject of international law and a geopolitical reality.

Russia has ZERO rights whatsoever over the Ukraine. Whatever your master and Dugin say is for people who don't have free access to information in your country, as free internet no longer exists in russia.

So try to spread your russian propaganda over there. Not here, nobody buys it.

"The Belovezha Accords"....
You remember that Mikhail Gorbachev was the head of USSR at the time. Yeltsin was merely the head of a region.

So, it's like the head of the state of Missouri signing a document dissolving the United States.

That's the 1990 declaration of Sovereignty under the dissolved USSR.

The 1991 declaration of independence doesn't include any neutrality clause, as I wrote.

Yes, it's entirely possible. For our discussion, it doesn't matter where exactly Ukraine announced its intention to become a neutral state. Even if it hadn't said it at all and Russia simply misheard it, it ultimately changes nothing.

You can allow your neighbor to lie on your property simply because you like their face. And then kick them out for some other reason. The reason you kick them out doesn't have to be rational.

Given his use of American English spelling (British English is taught in Russian universities), I would assume he is an American who has created a fake Russian persona. Likely has several accounts, uses a VPN to spoof the Admins. No sense discussing anything with these types. They're not here to discuss, just to wind up and get their jollies/<deleted> off to the responses.

Look at it from a different perspective. Study your opponent's point of view not to accept it, but to better understand how to win.

From the perspective of fundamental international law, the West is not violating anything by supplying weapons to Ukraine. After all, Russia has not yet revoked its independence (for internal reasons). Therefore, its competitors have a natural window of opportunity to defeat Russia, which is what they are doing—and it makes perfect sense.

The UK is already doing all the heavy lifting for its own collapse. Crumbling streets, open borders, knife crime on every corner, and a government that treats national suicide like a progressive lifestyle choice.

Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Looks lovely indeed.

Policing cost: Rose from £11.7 million (2023) to £15.7 million (2025).

Police injuries: Dozens of officers assaulted most years (55 arrests for assaults on officers in 2025; higher injury counts in earlier years).

Sex offenders: Live Facial Recognition has repeatedly identified registered sex offenders attending (e.g., 30 checked in 2025; 26 spoken to on Day 1 of 2026).

Maybe you tell that to her.

Arrest figures have been upgraded from 169 to 243. But hey, indeed, there was apparently a great atmosphere and only a couple of non life threatening stabbing and a handful of sexual offences - that’s ok then…. and yesterday was the family friendly day
