Trump Approval Rating Falls to Lowest Point of Second Term, Poll Shows

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to its lowest level of his second term, according to a new NBC News survey, as public concern about the economy grows.

Get today's headlines by email image.png

The poll found that 37% of respondents approve of Trump’s overall performance in office. That figure has declined steadily in recent months, falling from 39% in early February and 42% in early December.

The results reflect a broader downward trend in the president’s approval ratings throughout his second term.

Gradual Decline Since 2025

Earlier NBC News polling showed higher levels of support for Trump in 2025. In both April and June of that year, 45% of respondents said they approved of his performance. By late August 2025, that number had slipped slightly to 43%.

The latest survey suggests that support has continued to erode since then.

Much of the drop has come from a decline in the number of people who say they “strongly approve” of the president’s job performance. Only 20% of respondents now say they strongly approve, compared with 26% a year earlier.

The proportion who say they “somewhat approve” has also edged down, from 19% last April to 17% in the most recent survey.

Rising Disapproval

At the same time, strong opposition to the president has increased.

Half of all respondents — 50% — now say they strongly disapprove of Trump’s performance. That figure is up from 42% in April last year.

Another 13% say they somewhat disapprove of the president, unchanged from the April 2025 survey.

Taken together, the findings suggest that negative views of Trump have grown more intense over the past year.

Economic Concerns Weigh on Ratings

The poll was conducted during a period of volatility in financial markets, with the stock market falling to its lowest level of the year while survey responses were being collected.

Markets later rebounded toward record highs amid uncertainty surrounding energy prices and the ongoing war with Iran.

The survey indicates that economic concerns may be affecting public perceptions of the president’s performance.

In earlier polls conducted in April, June and August 2025, around 40% of respondents approved of Trump’s handling of inflation and the cost of living.

In the latest survey, however, approval of his management of economic issues dropped sharply to 32%. Only 13% of respondents said they strongly approve of his handling of those issues.

Among the roughly two-thirds of respondents who expressed dissatisfaction with Trump’s management of the economy, 52% said they strongly disapprove.

Poll Methodology

The NBC News Decision Desk poll was conducted by SurveyMonkey between March 30 and April 13.

It surveyed 32,433 adults across the United States and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 1.8 percentage points.

What a hypocrite. You spend all day hating on those you term "lefties". You have personally insulted me along with scores of others here. Take a mental note and realize this is exactly your MO. What you do all day long day after day.

The result of this is quite obvious. You have managed to achieve something that nobody else has ever done here on AN.

Does it make you happy and proud?

You are funny. I have never treated people on here or in real life the way that you do. Keep spewing your BS as nobody believes a word you say. If you take a look at your reputation just for this new nick you will see what your fellow posters think of you.

Taking into account Harrisfan, and Khaosokman you have over 3,000 negative repo points. This is a much larger and more significant accomplishment than you ever got as Harrisfan. Remember the good old days when you would brag so loudly about ?how you were a "champion poster"? What a freaking joke.

Oh by the way how many downvotes are you giving out a day? As you seem to give one to any poster who happens to cross you.

What a miserable life you have.

That is pretty ironic coming from you a lot of us are trying to bring some objectivity to the table and trying to have an intelligent discussion while showing respect for one another.

You are in the opposite category, you always make things personal, and here you have the audacity to talk about hating strangers. Really? Do you take yourself seriously on any level? Because none of us do.

There is a very big difference between criticizing a politician who is in the public eye and who is bound to get critiqued, and being personally hateful towards fellow forum members. I don't know if you can see the distinction but it's quite vast. Politicians like Trump are ruining lives, they are costing people jobs, they are lowering the quality of life for Americans and people around the world.

We are just throwing out opinions as forum members, so why hate on each other? What's the point of that? That's just a total lack of self-control, personal discipline, and pure hatred and recklessness.

During the 20 years that Clinton, Obama and Biden were in office I was continually critical of their policies. Just look back at some of my posts when Obama and Biden were in power. I was not a big fan of Obama for many of the years that he was president and my posts reflect that. As a centrist democrat I criticized a lot of his policies.

I see so little of that coming from Republicans these days, to point where their absolute fealty is actually quite frightening. Most just can't handle critique of Trump, they immediately clam up, get defensive and start making it personal. Instead of behaving like rational intellectuals and debating policy they just start throwing out nonsense, accusations that I've never criticized my own party, or that I get paid to be critical of Trump. That is not only ridiculous, it is inane. I wish somebody would offer to pay me to criticize Trump. I would spend my whole day doing it.

Criticism and open mindedness is what independent thinkers engage in, and it sets them apart from dogmatic subjects of a wannabe king. I invite you to reflect on that for just a moment.

Just for the record, I don't hate America. I hate your domestic and foreign policies. Big difference.

Also, China and Russai just officially went off buying or selling oil in dollars, and so did Venezuela, thanks to the actions of the orange colored clown.

If the rest of the world follows suit your economy will inevitably and without a shadow of a doubtt collapse because the ONLY thing keeping it still alive is fhe world buying oil in dollars!

You need to seriously start paying more attention to what the rest of the world thinks about your beloved America! You're blinded by your patriotism!

It takes a certain amount of personal development and self-awareness to be able to see one's own faults, as it's very easy to scream out into the wilderness, lecturing people on how they should behave, and criticizing them, when in reality all the work that ever needs to be done is within us.

And now to add to all the nonsense the number one CINO reads a ridiculous and inappropriate Bible passage to try to convince his followers that he's really Christian.

The scriptural passage that President Donald Trump read in a livestreamed Bible-reading marathon dates back to the depiction of an ancient event — but it’s one that carries a highly charged significance in the current religious and political climate. It has long been quoted and promoted by those who believe America was founded as a Christian nation and should be one. It’s from the seventh chapter of 2 Chronicles, a book in the Hebrew (Old Testament) portion of the Bible.

The 14th verse — the one most often quoted — says:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Trump is among hundreds who are taking turns reading the entire Bible aloud over the course of a week. Most of the readings are taking place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, though Trump’s on Tuesday came by video from the Oval Office.

The Chronicles passage is “a popular verse among Christian nationalists and has been for quite some time,” said Brian Kaylor, a Baptist pastor and president and editor-in-chief of Word&Way, a progressive site covering faith and politics.

He said its use has taken on a partisan and polarizing tone, often used in tandem with a promotion of a belief in a Christian America in an increasingly diverse country.

“This verse is not about the United States,” said Kaylor, author of “The Bible According to Christian Nationalists: Exploiting Scripture for Political Power.” It is “a promise made to one particular person in one particular moment. It doesn’t really work to pull it out of context and apply it to whatever you want to.”

You obviously don't know how sad and pathetic you are, especially making assumptions of some posters, and you are so wrong that it makes me laugh, no pity for you, just plain laughter at your stupidity.

You know nothing about me, despite my name having appeared in various articles in countries around the world, and appearing on TV, as well as starting an investment fund which reached just under $2 billion, and for the record, having lunch and dinner as a personal guest of the Prime Minister of a first world country.

So I don't need to be rich from the proceeds of an inheritance or from grifting, lying and cheating as per Trump, and I'm so glad that he doesn't know who I am because I wouldn't want to be associated with such garbage.

Keep up your sorry posts as they do make me laugh, as I'm sure they do others, and looking at the vast numbers of the "thumbs down" emojis, you are about as popular as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip.

Now 37%.

And at least half (or more) of the 37% will be his fixed MAGA fans who would vote for him regardless, even if he's dead.

So a corrected % is pobably near 19%.

Never mind, Trump and his cohorts just won the women's UGA tennis championship.

This will surely please all the woke MAGA supporters delighted to see inclusion alive and well in US sports.

When are you going to realize Rocky aka khaosok, bignok, Harris's, only fun is members biting when he insults them. To him its fun and he gets off on it. Try and have a discustion with him he ups his attacks and the personal attacks get more thats his game to get his count up. His other favourite game is waiting for a good thread to start then he will jump in. At first he gently eases into the posts and then he starts the wind up the posters the more you bite the more he ups the game. Its not easy but you have to play him at his game, remember its all about post counts. If you stop feeding him he goes hungry i'e just ignore him and dont respond to him.
