His approval rating could fall 600%, even 700%, just like drug prices.

In any event, he's going to declare a national emergency before the midterms, calling them off. Sure, elections were held during the Civil War and the War of 1812, but this is serious.

Keep sliding down, down, down--although if it goes much lower I do worry about him cancelling the mid-terms. Normally, that would be totally unthinkable but with Trump, it's not--which is super-scary for the country.

You're absolutely correct but that is very typical of a purely transactional individual. When one is as morally bankrupt and ethically depraved as someone like Don, principles never mean anything. It's always about the money for him, and it's always about power.

Sane and rational people can take some solace is seeing that even the insanity of cults has a limit, as many previously afflicted with misplaced hero worship are finally waking up to the fact Trump is a self-serving, corrupt moron who couldn't care less about his supporters once he got their vote.

the most amazing number is that somehow about 30% of americans still have their heads buried in fox "news" and conspiracy theories and think that the don is doing a great job...i never really knew there were that many deaf dumb and blind people in america that seem incapable of rational thought and can continue to fall for the worlds biggest cult conman lies over and over and over and over and over....i suspect that many of these folks will stay home and not vote in midterms as they are sure that the vote will be rigged (tell me again how a rigged election has potus house and senate in power?) so may as well stay home...that and perhaps secretly ashamed to wear their maga hats and prove they have been duped for a decade.

Let's break down the numbers: 30% of the population is 105 million. The daily viewership for the news is 2.5 million. I suppose your theory about Fox News doesn't explain this. Then again, if people use Fox News or toss out cult in a political discussion, it shows that the poster may not be all that bright.

It's a stretch to label these prices as historically high for fuel. In the past 10 years, gas prices were higher during Joe Biden's administration (see the attached graph).

I went to my pharmacy here in usa the other day and asked for my blood pressure pills. I was shocked that they wanted me to pay THEM money when dear leader had told me my price would drop by 1500% so naturally i was expecting the drug store to give me $$ to take them. Guess the pharmacies and big pharma must not have taken the same math classes as captain bone spurs had while secretly finishing at the top of his class....which of course makes me wonder why mr bone spurs would not release all those straight A grades from college to crow about. He sure seems to like crowing to be a great golfer winning club title after club title.

By all measures, let’s compare inflation. I already posted a graph. Biden didn’t have to do much to support the economy; it was already being propped up before he took office. Remember that the COVID vaccine came from the Trump administration? Also, think about all the spending during COVID to keep the economy stable.

Midterm stakes for Republicans

Trump’s weakening job approval comes as Republicans try to lift backing for GOP candidates ahead of the midterms, with a goal of maintaining control of both chambers of Congress. The approval figures come as Republicans seek to defend their positions in the House and Senate.

GOP strategists have warned that dissatisfaction with the president’s performance could hurt the party in November. They point in particular to divisions among voters over his handling of the Iran conflict and affordability.

What voters say on specific issues

In addition to overall approval, the YouGov survey asked about Trump’s handling of individual issues. Around 40% of respondents supported his approach to immigration, while 30% said they had confidence in his ability to deal wisely with an international crisis.

On age, 53% of respondents said Trump was too old for the role. That view was shared by 85% of Democrats and 17% of Republicans.

The Economist/YouGov survey interviewed 1,589 people between 7 and 10 August. The margin of error was about 3.2 percentage points.

White House rejects the criticism

A White House spokesperson, Davis Ingle, defended Trump’s record in a statement shared with The Hill on Wednesday. Ingle said no other president in history had achieved more for hardworking Americans, and argued that Trump is creating jobs, bringing down inflation and improving housing affordability. He also said progress at home and abroad is already under way, describing the administration’s work as part of a longer agenda. Ingle said the president’s agenda is taking effect.
