Ok, interesting factoid, but it doesn't seem relevant to the crime that was committed, unless they think the lunatic pickup driver was after the drugs.

There have been cases where the coroner found bullet holes in a crash victim. They can be hard to see after a scooter crash.

They know exactly what caused the impact, they do not know exactly what caused the death of the two on the bike until the postmortem confirms that, particularly as there is a possibility that drugs were involved.

You’re wrong about your last paragraph. There’s a million ways you can die after being hit by car and they have to legally find out what exactly caused them to die and stating being hit by a car is not sufficient. It couldn’t have been a fractured rib that pierced a lung or an organ, they could’ve bled to death or sustain a spinal chord injury or a skull fracture, could’ve been a blood clot, etc….

Technically speaking, getting hit by a car was the cause for the injury which then caused their death. I know it sounds like splitting hairs, but legally there’s a difference.
