Yesterday we took off to the animal rescue place pluetaleung and returned with two very skanky puppies now in residence at the house. We did stop off at vets who dosed them in some lotion and wormed them. Needless to say within 30 minutes of arriving at the house they'd both fallen in the pool (ones 6 weeks, the other8).

And I'm starting to itch too.

Anyway one of them has a temperature, and I'm looking for a vet that can visit us in Jomtien as I don't want to subject him to a car journey.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I believe that there is a vet at the Nernplubwarn Animal Hospital that will make house calls. Their phone number is 038 406384-5. This is a 24-hour animal hospital, located at the back of an outdoor market, about 1/2km down Nernplubwarn from Sukhumvit. It's on the right side, and there's a small sign, green letters on white background, that reads "Animal Hospital", at the entrance to the outdoor market. There's also a larger neon sign with a picture of a lobster (for some restaurant) that might be easier to see. Hopefully, the phone call will do it for you.

Good luck with the little guys! Thanks for rescuing them! I wish everyone would get pets in this way, rather than buying "pure breds" as a status symbol from pet shops. You'll never get more love than from a pet you save. They DO know it!!

I highly recommend Muang Ake Central Veterinary Hospital on Sukhumvit just south of Lotus Pattaya Tai. Its on Lotus side of Sukhumvit and a very professional vet with reasonable prices. I have had nothing but bad experience with Nernplubwan vet but would highly recommend Muang Ake.

Their telephone number is 038-233-200 - 24 hours.

Good luck!!

I also have used this place - I confirm they do home calls - they appear most professional - they clearly display prices in English & Thai - also have a published rate for home visits - something like 8-10 Baht per Km but rate varies whether you need motorbike or car.

I too have had professional service from Nern Plub wan Animal hospital for my 3 dogs over a period of 2 years and am very satisfied. They never seem to push for unneccesary or expensive treatment, all of them show a genuine love for animals.

However, just about every time I go there is different set of vets in attendance, so I suppose it's possible that someone may get a duff one. I am interested in what happened to Meg_ken :o

Many thanks - I ended up taking the little fella in the car as a couple of vets I spoke to would only send out an assistant. The poor thing has some kind of virus that the vet says is 60-70% fatal. :D . She showed me the test kit result - didn't look any different to the control to my eye...... we'll see.

He's eating still, I've been given a bag full of antiobiotics + ant emetic which I'm not really sure whether I want to start administering. If its a virus what's the point of antibiotics? Any advice appreciated on that one. My own thoughts are to let me rest, keep plenty of fluids, food and supplements in him and hope for the best.? If he deteriorates get him on IV fluids? Whilst he's not vomitting why give an anti emetic?

We've sorted the ringworm, fleas etc. I have a nagging suspicion he may have scabies - I've started itching between my knuckles this morning.... :D .

There's a touch of retiever in there somewhere I think. I've called him Max.

BTW the other one is 6 weeks and seems very healthy. He must be a Pattaya dog - still making noises at 4am, demanding to be fed and keeping me awake half the night - and then sleeps all day. He's been christened Junior.

I mentioned what happened there on the thread I posted warning people not to buy animals at theprasit market.

I have actually had 3 bad experiences at Nernplubwan Vet.

1st bad experience - Our bird wasn't looking very well, took it to Nernplubwan vet, The lady quickly looked at him and said he was fine, no problem. 3 days later the bird dropped dead. We put it down to them not being experienced with birds.

2nd bad experience - One of our dogs had awful breath, started screaming as she was eating and upon looking closer we noticed that her front bottom teeth were all loose. Took her to the vet and we left her there and paid the 1,500 baht to have the loose teeth removed. Went to pick her up, all her loose teeth were still there, only 2 teeth had been removed. He said he removed only the 2 because they were rotting. He refused to do anything about the loose teeth, even after I explained to him that she would not eat as she was in pain. He told me to go to another vet and got extremely rude. The dog still could not eat after he removed the rotten teeth - as the problem was her bottom teeth were very loose and putting her through a lot of pain.

3rd and Last bad experience - Early morning when other vets were closed our baby kitten passed out. We didn't know of any other 24hr vets so had to take him to Nernplubwan. They could not take his blood as 'his veins were too small'. They refused to do anything and put him in an oxygen tank. They tried to put him on an IV drip, and had to inject it into the side of his body due to his veins being too small. She nipped up his skin, inserted the needle and started to inject the liquid. Suddenly the cats fur started dripping and it turns out the needle had punched through the other side of the skin she was nipping, however she didnt notice as he was a long haired cat. This is when she told us the only thing they could do was put him in an oxygen tank.

We took him out of Nernplubwan and rushed him to Muang Eak after doing research here on Thaivisa where they successfully gave him a blood test and put him on an IV drip on their first attempt, Also giving him Injections which Nernplubwan refused to do.

I suppose everyone has different views, but these are my bad experiences with Nernplubwan vet. Their service was excellent when the owner was there up until last year (At their old location too), however it seems he has now employed vets to work for him who do not seem as professional..

These are just my experiences so no need for any clever or nasty comments, Thank you.. (Not directed at you, Mobi)

Good luck :D

Very sorry to hear about this.. My little kitten mentioned in the above post eventually died from some kind of "Virus".. We left him in the vets and they tried everything but he just didn't make it. They said it was probably due to his very young age (We purchased him as a 2 month old, however he seemed a lot younger and just wasn't strong enough to fight it)

Wishing you the best of luck and I really hope that he pulls through!!

^ Thanks

He ate some lunch and then picked a fight with the other dog in the garden - might not be so bad after all, we'll see.

I can add my 5 cents about hospitals.

Nuern Plurb Warn:

1) hadn't discovered flees in the cat's hair than checked the cat I picked up from the street, as I told them.

2) Answered I can spay a cat right after vaccination.

3) I was told two cats died on the second day after spaying in there.

I can tell, though, that they succesfully treated the inflammation of my cat's tale after being bitten.

Muang Ake hospital looks much more cleaner and brighter. I spayed my cat there and saw many foreign customers happy with the service, and with great results after the same surgery. The staff is super friendly and prices are not high.

Muang Ake hospital, i believe is also a Dog & cat Hotel, so I will be making enquiries about taking my Persian cats there when i visit my home country. The place looks very very nice.

Sorry to trawl up an old post, but was searching around looking for recommendations for a good vets.

My Labrador became quite suddenly sick about two weeks ago and just wasn't eating at all, he just went totally lethargic and generally looked bad.

We took him to NPW Animal hospital last week, where he spent 5 days, they have let him come home last night, but he still looks terrible and is really thin, this is a dog that two weeks ago was full of life.

Apparently they think he has a kidney problem, though I suspect it is possible poisoning.

Will try the one near to Lotus today, but has anybody else recommendations for a good, competent vets, coz I really hate to see him suffering like this.

Muang Ake on Sukhumvit, just passed Lotus when traveling South. On your right hand side if coming from north.
