waldwolf, nice tip, but be very careful with trusting any real translation work to machines. The results are funny at best.

They work ok when you want to know approximately what a web page in a language foreign to your own says, but you should never attempt to use them to translate FROM your own language into another, simply because the machine is not able to understand what connotation of a particular word you are after.

A simple example - try to translate the single English word "file" into German or French - now, the engine is forced to use only ONE connotation of the word file. There is no guarantee or indication that it is the same connotation you are actually intending. Have a look at the following list of connotations from Merriam Webster to see my point:

The more words a phrase contains, and the more original it is, the more problems it will cause the translation engine.

Main Entry:1file

1 : a collection of related data records (as for a computer)

2 : a complete collection of data (as text or a program) treated by a computer as a unit especially for purposes of input and output

---------------------------------------

If you know any languages beside your mother tongue to a reasonable degree, you will realize that another language than English will with 99% likelihood have *entirely* different words for all these different connotations of 'file'.

Now how can the program know which one you intend?

It can't. Maybe in 20 years or so, the engines will be more sophisticated, but today they are still very primitive compared to a live person.

So take up Francois and any others on their offer to help you...

Good Luck!
