Urgent Volunteer Assistance Needed for Tsunami Disaster Relief

January 16, 2005 --- Phang Gna Province

There are volunteers working around the clock daily, however there is more work to be done and the need for additional volunteers is dire. Anyone can help, whether you are a native Thai speaker or not. English is needed and if you are multi-lingual that is even better, but there is no judgment here as your help is needed.

We need approximately 115 volunteers at the moment so please don’t hesitate to come immediately.

Workers Needed:

Web Design

IT Staff & Network Troubleshooting

Transcribe data from Thai to English about the details of the deceased

Thai Native Speaker 10 people

It is overwhelmingly helpful and appreciated if you have or can bring a laptop computer.

Enter information regarding the victims of the disaster

Laptop computer is appreciated.

Fluent in Excel is a bonus.

Community Workers Needed

Land Surveyors, Field Staff, Social Workers

Needed to work with the refugees and those whose land, homes, and businesses no longer exist.

You will need to spend time with the people and learn how to help them, as well as, guide them in helping themselves.

You will be assessing what needs they have, so that we may help provide the necessary provisions to assist them in rebuilding their lives.

Friendly, open-minded, and strong in dealing with sensitive people.

Duration: Approx. 15 days

For Radio Broadcasts & Various Other Media

Background in mass communication and public speaking.

Experience or a degree in radio broadcasting or journalism is a plus.

Duration: 15-30 days

Cleaning of Beaches

Managing the Donations the are piling high

4th of April will be the 100 day memorial, we will be organizing events for this day

26th of December will be the 1-year memorial, events for this day will also be organized

Establish a Tsunami Museum

Volunteers should have experience in photography and should have their own equipment (if using a digital camera, no less than 4 MegaPixels)

Duration: 7 days minimum

20 People Needed

Facility Staff Needed:

Cooking, cleaning, a basic overall support group for the facilities and staff.

Painting, refurbishing, keeping the facility functional.

Maintenance, electricity, lights, etc.

Front office staff.

Phone support for information, donations, volunteers, etc.

IT Support

Duration: 7 days minimum

There is a large sign on the road, you will not be able to miss it. We will provide accommodation and food for the duration of your stay, however donations of 100 Baht/day are appreciated.
