Rain can often be induced according to some traditions by performing a rain dance.

Is there a Thai tradition for this?

Perhaps most members share the Scamps apprehensions about cavorting on the dance floor, so maybe we could make our contribution from our song catalogue.

How many songs do we know with the word “rain” in the Title?

I’ll kick off with two of the best known:

“Singing in the rain” sung by Gene Kelly

“Raindrops keep falling on my head” sung by ?

“Raindrops keep falling on my head” sung by ?

Raindrops keep falling on my head was written and performed by Burt Bacharach, but made more popular by BJ Thomas.

More rain songs;

November Rain - Guns 'N' Roses

Purple Rain - Prince

Have You Ever Seen The Rain - Creedence Clearwater Revival

Who'll Stop The Rain - Creedence Clearwater Revival

Rhythm Of The Falling Rain - Ricky Nelson

The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin

Rain - Madonna

In The Rain - Kenny G

Here Comes The Rain Again - Eurythmics

Smoky Mountain Rain - Ronnie Milsap

Summer Rain - Belinda Carlisle

After The Rain Has Fallen - Sting

Blame It On The Rain - Milli Vanilli

Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again - Fortunes

Laughter In The Rain - Neil Sedaka

But the ones I think are most appropriate;

I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins & Genesis

or

Let It Rain - Eric Clapton

God save our Queen.....

God save our gracious Queen,

Long live our noble Queen,

God save the Queen;

Send her victorious,

Happy and glorious,

Long to reign over us,

God save the Queen.

Oh Lord our God arise,

Scatter our enemies,

And make them fall

Confound their politics

Frustrate their knavish tricks,

On Thee our hopes we fix

Oh save us all. :D:D

Walking In The Rain - Ronettes

And Everyone's favorite;

Nice ones Bino.

But how about we put an extra condition in?

A recording of the song must be in your own collection.

MP3s are OK (on account of the fact I don't have anything else!).

Bet you lot can't find a song with 'Salmon' in the title.

Then you obviously don’t know “Inindependence” by A Minor Forest: track number 4 being called “..It's Salmon!!!”

Here is a little review, should this album have passed you by, written by Ned Raggett

““A Minor Forest's one actual studio album may not quite reach the heights of such conceptually (if not always musically) similar acts like Slint or Don Caballero, although there's the same sense of using rock instrumentation as a bed for something a lot more enveloping and grand, while keeping a certain punk edge that steers things away from wanky prog or its less worthy derivatives. Sometimes it's a matter of just the right sort of studio touch, like the suddenly stopped audiotape sound halfway through the opening number, "The Dutch Fist." Often it's because of the sense of space in the songs; while A Minor Forest can rock out fairly impressively, it's more noticeable that there are pauses, subtle shifts, a restraint in the sound, all accentuated by the final mix, rather than a continual crush a la Helmet or Godflesh. The guitar heroics that do appear, as on "Look at That Car, It's Full of Balloons," drive the songs along rather than using them as launching pads for w*nkery, aiming for a direct power rather than mindless technical hoohah. At its most sweetly beautiful, Inindependence slots right into the realm of such masters of restrained hush as the Velvets (on their third album) and Low, but A Minor Forest is just that little more angular and honed -- it's not a comforting, enveloping feeling, but more a stark presentation. "The Smell of Hot" takes the longest-song-on-the-disc honors, but doesn't feel 18 minutes long at all, with its meditative approach slowly, softly continuing, disappearing, then returning in one last controlled burst after some tape-crumbling noise. Inindependence won't go down as a lost classic per se, but there's more here to enjoy than on many a record released as part of the go-nowhere post-rock haze and craze.””

Kind of makes you want to rush out and buy?

It has been raining in Bangkok- during the early morning hours (3-4 AM) and early afternoon (1-2 PM) for the last several days. Finally! :o

Just heard a song on 107 FM that we all overlooked in our lists;

It's Raining Again - Supertramp!

Quite appropriate!

“Raindrops keep falling on my head” sung by ?

BJ Thomas.

First heard it in a knocking shop/nightclub in Makati,Manila in 1970 and it was being sung by the french singer ...Sacha Distel (dis-tellation).

Ferdi Marcos (wifie had a couple of pairs of overpriced flipflops)was running the place at the time and there was a curfew in place...ie technically any body on the streets between midnight and 5 am got arrested or shot :D

That basically meant that you had to stay in the clubs/K.shops until at least that time :D ...and force yourself to enjoy wot waz on offer.... :D

Another old fav being played then was "Green Green Grass of Home"by..........and I suppose it was all to do with the rain. :o

'Its raining men'

by the Weather Girls................oh lord help me.

Originally performed by The Weather Girls

Originally released in 1982, it was one of the last great disco anthems

Remade by Geri Halliwell, formerly Ginger Spice of the Spice Girls, in 2001

Used in the movie Brigit Jones's Diary

Smash hit in UK, it debuted at #1 on the UK charts

Ironically, in spite of the song's popularity, neither version ever cracked the US Top 40 charts
