It's an interesting discussion, and some things come to mind. First of all living a life without passion and pleasure creates unhappiness, so why avoid everything that is supposedly unhealthy only to end up unhappy and unfulfilled?
What on Earth about smoking makes people happy? People smoke because they're addicted and most smokers that I talk to barely enjoy it. Ganja is completely different. But even with ganja for me it was only enjoyable when I did it occasionally, and the people that I know who do it daily do not seem to enjoy it much, as sobriety then becomes the novelty, not being high.
And lastly I think happiness is a nearly impossible quality to define, so I've resorted to using fulfillment as a gage, as it's much easier to make a determination based on that.
Wife's cousin joined recently........day one after graduating.....deep south!
I wonder if a good proportion of this 7,000 will find themselves in a similar situation.......thinking they were going to be wandering around Sukhumvit taking tea money.....whoops!
