PTT denies supplying diesel mixed with water

BANGKOK: -- PTT Public Company Limited says it has never supplied diesel oil with a mixture of water at its service station in the North as some consumers have complained.

Chaivat Churitti, Senior Executive Vice President of PTT Oil Business Group, revealed Sunday certain consumers had complained that they filled up diesel at a service station in Saraphee District of Chiang Mai Province and found the oil appeared to be artificial.

He said the company rushed to inspect the station and found it had not sold any artificial diesel.

He conceded heavy downpours of rain recently caused flooding at petrol service stations in many areas and the floods might seep into an oil depot underground.

He said PTT would like to apologize for the incident and promised it would never happen again.

The company is ready to take responsibility of any damage all customers have sustained from the incident.

He added that the firm had instructed the problem oil service station to stop selling fuel immediately after it was aware of the complaints and had staff of a quality control unit to examine the oil quality at the station.

PTT insists there is no contaminationin its oil content

PTT denies supplying contaminated diesel and will take responsibility for any damage should consumers find that debris from PTT's oil content.

Vice Managing Director of the oil conglomerate, Chaiwat Chookrit (ชัยวัฒน์ ชูกฤทิ์) referred to a recent report that consumers at Saraphee (สารภี) District of Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่) Province, found that the oil they have pumped, was contaminated.

He said the company has already looked into the matter and has ensured that PTT does not supply contaminated oil. Mr Chaiwat said perhaps it was due to heavy downpours of rain which has caused floods in petrol service stations in many areas therefore permeating into an oil depot underground.

However, he said that PTT would like to apologize for the incident and that it is ready to take responsibility of any damage caused by the oil.

He said that the company has instructed oil stations to immediately stop selling the fuel and has assigned staff of the Quality Control Unit to examine the oil quality at the station.

They may also want to follow the tankers that refuel these stations. A driver could make a stop somewhere and compensate for the missing fuel with water. There was a spot on the tv news about this a few months ago. Policemen were searching the driver who happened to have huge wad of cash in his pocket after an unscheduled stop. :o
