  1. It could have been better but i think it is still useful for those who wish toi travel CHEAP and FAST to the city.

if you have known Kuala Lumpur's transport system, it's a 1000 times worse where you just cannot blame it on stupidity alone without the big C.

  2. If this could give you a better idea, I will rate:

    Angkor Wat 20

    Sukhothai 5

    Ayutthaya 3

    SiSat 2

How about slipping Old Bagan (15) and Anuradhapura (10) in there to fatten it up a bit.

Thank you, I have not been those places yet. If you agree to my ratings and give those 2 places 15 and 10, I must go soon !!

  3. FondueUSA,

I have been to both places thoroughly during my first visit but I return to Suk 2 times after that but not again to SS. Suk is like a smaller scale of Angkor Wat and much more to see than Ayutthya but SS is just a few but large temples seperated in a large area compared to Suk which is easily 3 to 4 times more temples and you can also visit the New Town and a few new temples between the way from New Town to Old Town. Your question is whether it's worth visiting both and not which to choose so I presume you will definitely visit Sukhotai but whether or not you should visit SS. I will say if you have only 1 day, spend it all in Suk, if 2, it's worth spending 1 day each but sleep in Suk. If you have 3 days, definitely worth giving a day to SS if you like temple ruins. You will definitely like 1 or 2 temples in SS although Suk is the definite better among the 2 places.

If this could give you a better idea, I will rate:

    Angkor Wat 20

    Sukhothai 5

    Ayutthaya 3

    SiSat 2

I dont understand why some people could give you such unappropriates replies. Refer to any guide books and you can easily find many more attractions in Suk against SS

I envy someone who mentioned visiting Suk 3 times but got bored in 10 minutes each time. How I wish I could afford to revisit a place that I got bored in 10 mins :-)

Although we pay 10 times more than a Thai, I think it is still cheap and worth to visit if you like the place. Let's not forget that these Thai places belong to their people, so we should not complain if they are charge cheaper entrance fees.

I have paid the same entrance fee as a local to some European attractions that I felt is expensive and not worth a second visit. I will pay again to some Thai attractions.

  4. I read about the free City Line train from Bangkok Su Airport to Phyathai which is on trial, is it on ? My flight arrive at 2200 and depart at 0800, I wonder if I can take it ?

I have not come in for a few months. I remember there are seperate forums for Bangkok and Chiang Mai, has there been changes now ?

  5. Where are the best burgers in town? :)

That's easy. The best burgers are at the South Gate Noodle Shop with no sign, but it's not really near the south gate. But you won't find that info in the Lonely Planet.

From my travel experience, most of the Lousy Planet's recommendations on food are poor and most of the good places are not listed by them, maybe due to advertisement fees.

I only rely on their books for maps.

  6. If you are thanking of traveling during this period you had better get your ticket now and it may be to late. This is the busiest time of year for public transportation.

Since Songkran is 13th to 16th, if I travel on 14th or 15th night, will there be less passengers ?

Thailand bus don't have online booking, I cannot buy it until 13th afternoon when I arrive Chinagmai, what's my chance ? I must get to Bangkok by 16th morning latest.

  7. Nobody on this form is a fortune teller. At least licensed :)

I don't believe in fortune tellers. I like to hear from TV members.

I am not a fortune teller but I don't think these red shirts will be so stupid to offend the country by creating problems during Songkran, what do you think ?

  8. Translated from a Thai recipe (so I guess authentic). C is cup, T is tablespoon.

20 medium prawns, shelled, but tail left on

    4 C water

    3 shallots, finely chopped

    2 stalks lemon grass, bruised

    2 T fish sauce

    2 slices galangal

    20 small mushroom, halved

    6 kaffir lime leaves

    3 T lime juice

    2-3 chillies

    sprig of coriander

    2 spring onions, sliced

Boil shallots, lemon grass, fish sauce and galangal in water for 3 minutes.

Add the prawns and mushrooms, and cook until the prawns turn pink.

Add the kaffir lime leaves, lime juice and chillies.

    Remove from heat.

Add coriander leaves and spring onion.

    Serves 4

The creamy version is, I've been told, made by adding a little condensed milk (not coconut milk).

Some experts please help to confirm whether this recipe is good or need improvements :)

If I replace the prawns with a mix of prawns, squids, and chicken, will all the other ingredients still the same ?

    Is tomato not necessary ?
