  1. This is a very popular restaurant near the 3 Kings Monument & Art & Cultural Museum. They serve a lot of crispy pork and mixed pork ingredients soup, served with rice or a type of noodle(looks like kuoy thew in peices). Most people order crispy pork served on their rice or a seperate bowl of soup with crispy pork and other pork ingredients. The restaurant is in a single storey shop but inside it's narrow and long with many tables all the way in, very crowded during lunch hour.

They have easily 10 to 20 young staffs in uniform.

Exact location - if you are facing the Art & Cultural Museum's front entrance(where the 3 Kings status is placed), walk to the right, turn left along the first road, go straight(now the museum will be on your left); the shop is now far from there across the road.

I need to know their business hours urgently, open and close what time roughly ?

  2. It's not new. Only the doctors and scientists don't undersatand it. I think I explained before.

For those examples of "thoughts & mind" cure, they have been on for centuries BUT it don't work for everyone and it only works on "nerve system" related sickness.

The principle is the same as in "god-believing-prayers" cure. Some people believe in religiopus mass-healing.

For all these "miracles" it only works on illness related to "nervous system" because both(mind & nervous system) is micro level. If the nervous system is in order, some illnesses related to it can be cured.

It will never work on those with a big unhealed wound like diabetic patients for example. Have we ever heard that someone with a big wound suddenly got healed in a religious mass-healing function ? NEVER

This is a big subject by itself and if anyone wish to understand further, I will be most happy to contribute. I don't post such knowledeg form other forums. It's exclusively for Thai forum. I love Thailand; simply.

  3. Let's try and keep the "moment-to-moment rebirth only" argument in this thread so it doesn't infect a lot of other topics. And let's have some solid evidence to back up the claims on either side. Otherwise it's all just views.

    I think I explained before.

Rebirth is best explained in a scientific way, it's not religious or Buddhist. It's just that the Buddhism or Buddha "discovered" it first. The Buddha never "invented" it. I can believe in rebirth but I may not understand it or I am not Buddhist. Rebirth is best explained using the energy theory that it can not be destroyed or created; but it can be transformed from one form to another form. Life is an energy.

Another most important theory in Buddhism is the "KARMA" (meaning action). Science explained the law of action and reaction; every action has the same reaction; same as explained by Buddhism on karma.

These 2 theories are the most important and outstanding of both science and Buddhism; and they are similar; except that Buddhism is 2000 over years ahead of science. The Buddha said Buddhism will last only 5000 years. It's exactly mid-way now. In another 2500 years, it's neither called science or Buddhism. It becomes common knowledge.

No one explained it in a way I did and I did it exclusively for Thai Visa forum; not anywhere else.

I don't ask for much. I just hope that in years to come; when my theory(for the above if I can call it theory) is widely known and if you are still alive(unlikely); I just wish that you remember someone here named "healthcaretaker" wrote about it first.

  4. I think you'd probably like Heuan Suntharee. Just a tiny ways out of town but it sounds like just what you're looking for. Food really good too.

Thank you. I google for this place but cannot find it from google map, not even Th Wan Singkham or Saphan Phra Ram IX(which someone mentioned it's near)

Anyone can help me to locate this place ?

I like to look for this place, how do I decribe it to the songtheaw or tuk-tuk man beside just the name ? Any landmark ?

  5. He should get a definite answer from his doctor. THere is a special form the doctor may be required to fill in.

If he needs oxygen this gives many problems as many airlines will not allow it and others charge excessively. I know Thai are reasonable at $100 a flight sector. Thai do not charge on domestic flights. Cathay will provide free.

You said one hour flight. In this case oxygen may not be needed but I know from personal experience the longer the flight the more need for oxygen.,

Thank you very much. The hopeless doctors in our country(better not name it) can't give any advice. We decided that he don't do the trip.

I can easily find shops or food stalls that can prepare a few Thai dishes and served with rice.

Any such place in BKK around the touristy area like Siam Square, Silom, etc ?

I know there are restaurants everywhere in BKK but we are looking for outstanding Thai food. I am sure there ......

    Thank you very much GF132,

1st one - is this a good enough place for a full meal ? Is it in air-cond ?

2nd one - Good location, may try it out.

3rd one - A little out of the way.

4th one - sounds good and look authentic but is this place near to any attraction, how far from any BTS ? That google map is in Thai and small, how can I find it in google map ? If I call to reserve, can they speak English ?

Thanks again. I always see alot of people eating by the roadside, outside near Central World bridge before crossing to Pratunam. A few stalls sell the same type of large fish covered with salt with other food. Is it good there ? Why so many people eat there despite the uncomfortable crowded environmement ? I am tempted to try.

Thank you but the link for the 1st one is completely in Thais, no idea what the map means...

Any recommendation in Siam Square, MBK, Saphan Taksin & Wong Wian Yai area ? We will be spending many hours there.

  9. I see most recommendations are given for places along Sukhimvit, are you all mostly farangs ?smile.png

Please get your wives to help recommend, I don't trust Farangs' taste for Thai foodclap2.gif

    No offends ya.

As I mentioned, my wife's favourite place is The Oyster Bar (location is Narwathiwas soi 24)

What food do they specialise in ?

I will be more interested with Thai food.

  11. Try this old school noodle called kiam ee เกี๋ยมอี๋ in soi Charoen krung 23, china town area. It is very close to wat mangkorn (dragon temple) the most important Chinese temple in Thailand.

When you are in soi 23, it is the second stall to your right. I repeat it's the second shop not the first!

    http://www.pg.in.th/blog/view/7223

It is one of the tastiest place for kiamee. Make sure you add their special chili sauce! This place opens for lunch only

    Enjoy BKK!

I think I tried this place; is it very cheap but rather plain looking type ? Just 20 bahts a bowl think. You always see them preparing 5 to 10 bowls non-stop.

Nice but too simple for a meal.

  12. I am about to start this thread but you did it first.

I am taking some foreigners to Bangkok and looking for the best local food is top of our itinerary, shopping comes only 2nd.

We have all been to BKK before but hardly know where to get the best local food; like places for Roast Pork Rice, Roast pork with pork ingredients soup, Lad Kraprow, tom yam, etc.

    I know these are good(OP, attention !!)

    a) During lunch hrs, the stew pork rice at the junction of Silom and Soi Convent is popular but just a stall; going in a group will have seats difficulty.

    B) Chinatown's Fish Ball soup(2 stalls side by side same owner, opens only at 10 pm till 4am) at the main road is very nice, escpecially the slices of fish paste meat;

    c) Pork ingredients with roast port shop - 2 stalls along Chinatown but at the other road running the opposite direction, I stall at the main road side as you come out of Shangri-La hotel( a little costly).

I heard a chicken rice near Emporium shopping mall is nice but don't know exactly where, can someone help ?

Can anyone endorse or second my recommendations above ?

  13. I am taking my elderly dad to visit Thailand soon but he was just discharged for a cardio problem(short of breath) and doctor said it's related to lung but no major treatment or operation needed.

His doctor did not give any definite advise whether he should travel or not but some people say the danger is in the flight(1 to 2 hours) where the poor air may give him an attack, is there any truth ?

He is very enthusiastic about the trip. I am thinking taking him to the north for a vacation to recuperate may be good for his health and I do not wish to disappoint him.

    Kindly give some advise.

In case of medical attention needed in Thailand, is medical fees costly ? Is there any government or cheap medical treatment available for a tourist.

    Thank you

  14. This angers me !!

Such deaths can only happen in Thailand !! This is the responsibilty of the government.

How can the government allows this event to carry on knowing very well there are certain numbers of death and accidents every year ?

I am sure European or Singapore government, for example will never allow such to happen.

The government must take some controls in the future.

Knowing very well, the young and underage are more restless and careless, some rules and conditions must be set:

    Examples:

    1) People below a certain age must not be allowed to drive into certain wet areas during these few days.

    2) During those few days, maximum driving speed must be reduced in certain areas.

Of course, this means spending a little more by stationing some traffic officers to check in the affected areas; but I am sure it worthwhile. I can't think of other precaution measures. This festival event cannot be stopped.

Somebody please make sure the above conditions be reached to the transport ministry. I don't want my beloved country to kill so many innocent lives every year.
