  1. Very strange, a Swiss national running an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, and that too in Phuket. Unless he is some kind of animal expert.
  2. How ironic considering that his own great grandparents came from China as poor emigrants looking for opportunity and the Thais welcomed them and they are now one among the richest and most successful.
  3. Same with me, the process with SB to MOI took just a few months and I also had the NIA interview at their rented co-working space in some Bangkok Soi during the Covid lockdown. Whichever party rules the Interior Ministry gets to appoint their cronies or shuffle all the provincial governors and disburse central budget funds to the provinces. Thereby gaining enormous political clout. So Anuthin will fight to keep it.
  4. Thank you @Arkady for your comforting last few lines. I am waiting patiently since 2020 but getting apprehensive with the latest political developments. I hope some mob or the other does not come out on the streets yet again.
  5. Foolish in the extreme to accept carrying some strangers baggage for a measly sum of 2000 Baht. I would not do it for any amount of money, the risk is simply too great.
  6. If you are going to Sisaket for 3 weeks 'with nothing much to do', why not go somewhere else like Pattaya or Phuket? Lots of English speakers there.
  7. Huh? What if you have had a shower in the morning but spend the day outside in the sweltering heat, or working chores at home? Personally, even though I drive to/from work and spend the day in an airconditioned office, I feel so refreshed when I take a nice cold shower just before sleeping. Fall into a deep sleep quickly, and wake up refreshed at 5am to do some exercise before going to work.
  8. Oh wow, thanks. I did not know that there is a big & small MOI Committee.
  9. Happy holiday in UK for both of you!
  10. I was eligible to apply for Thai citizenship on both counts (>5yrs on PR & >15yrs married to a Thai citizen) but applied under the latter in 2019 and my documents were sent to MOI in 2020 after the SB & NIA interviews. Now 4yrs waiting for the interview call with the big MOI committee.
  11. No, and I do not have a number to call at MOI. Besides, since there are 2019 applicants waiting, I thought it was 'first in first out'.
  12. True, you become a Thai citizen the moment it is published in the Royal Gazette. (This is one of the questions asked in the multiple choice questionnaire they give you at the begining of the citizenship application process at the SB)
  13. I will answer No.7 only. Under the present circumstances and the speed at which it is moving, it will be a miracle if you get called even in 2026. I am one of those waiting since 2020 and there are some before me too.
  14. Ladyboys, penury, excessive alcohol, cheated by girlfriend...?
  15. About 100 pounds per day would be very nice for a teenage girl, they like buying stuff.
  16. @Marcati Congratulations, and hope all goes well with the final process. I had my NIA interview and all documents were sent to MOI in 2020, so hopefully in 2rys time I will get lucky. I am planning to retire in 2026, so it is really worrying.
  17. Sorry late reply. No news at all 😔
  18. So no LGBTQ donkeys 🤤
  19. Or could be an alcoholic with no money left as TIT?
  20. 2- a false sense of superiority
