phuket tuk drivers,,,,worst people in Thailand bar none. total douchery. best to just steer clear of those maggots

ThaiVisaService is the one I used many times...
Also DMK to Mai Sot is easy, often very cheap flights if you pick the right day, come out of tiny airport get a Tuk Tuk 50 baht to bridge, walk across, the Burma side will stamp you in and out, cost 500 baht + a 2 small stamps in Passport. another 50 baht Tuk tuk and your back at the airport..
Have you lots of space in your Passport ? [Cambodia you also need a full page for the Visa sticker as well as another page for the in & out stamps]
Past 4 years back on Retirement Extensions, so not used/needed to do a Visa runs [prices may well have gone up]...
yeah , the space in the passport is always an issue. They often start using a new page when there is still room on previous page also. gets my goat

ThaiVisaService is the best one IMO, used them 4 times now, never had any issues, 2400 all in for the trip
Does that include the Cambodian visa fee? Thanks.

As far as the onward ticket is concerned, which airlines and departure point airports have people been asked for proof of travel out of Thailand? Any recent incidents?

As the OP is looking for a 30 day exempt if he flies he may have to have purchased a forward flight within 30 days in order to meet airline requirements whereas at a land border with or without an agent this will not be required (normally). This may therefore need to be factored in on the estimated costs. Going with an agent also minimises the likelihood of having difficulties or being delayed with questions on re-entry.
That is an interesting point. Does anyone know if proof of ongoing flight (or bus, train I suppose) from Thailand within 30 days is required for returning back from KL? Thanks

Hello all,
Will have to do a "run" near the end of June 2016 and am wondering about the best way. If you have experience please chime in. I am from the USA, am on 30 day extension from a 60 day tourist visa, and just want to get a 30 day exemption. I will be transferring the exemption to a different type of visa in Thailand. I am thinking about Cambodia as the probable departure point. What is the cheapest and most reliable way that you have found? I know there are many van services and took some of those in the past but cant remember the best ones (without hidden fees also, I remember a couple of times they tried to glean extra money when we rolled up to Cambodia, extra fee to the border or some such BS). Thanks a lot for your reccomendations. Im open to Public bus options also, if they aren't too much of a PITA.

and the tm30 your 'landlord' did.
and photocopies of:
photo page of passport
entry stamp page of passport
and having a thai g/f to do your talking helps mak mak. but she will have to have her id with her, too.
i thought i might need some photocopies. TM 30 from landlord? Is that required? Havent heard of that before.

Hello, What will i need to submit for a 30 day extension to my SETV? And can I do the extension early? Say 1 week early? Thanks.

maybe I should ask: Has anyone experienced being asked for an ongoing flight from Thailand when applying for a tourist visa, and at which embassy?
-
Hi all. I have been hearing and reading about people applying for tourist visas in various Thai embassies and being asked for proof of an ongoing flight. I have been out of the tourist visa loop for a few years, I myself have never been asked for this. Is this happening more now? Thanks

Always a great example of fairness concerning disputes in Thailand: 2 Thais and a knife VS. 1 unarmed farang. Glad to see the cowardice is alive and well.

what a farce. we're sorry and thats it?....no justice whatsoever.

if they have caught 2. They must know the other 2, get them to talk.

good to know. thank you so much for your replies.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if vientienne Thai embassy (or any others for that matter) will issue a second 60 day tourist visa ? A friend of mine told me they have stopped doing this. Any Help appreciated, thanks.

Hello,
Just wondering if double entry tourist visas are still available. I have looked online a bit and it seems to be just the METV and single entry i see talked about. I have been out of the country since october 2015 and just came back on 30 day exempt. Will go to vientienne before that is up. Plan on working probably after about 2 or three months, so was hoping a double entry was still available. The METV might be a tad expensive for my needs. Or I guess I could bounce out twice for two single entries. Hmmmmm. Thanks for your responses.

I use the krungsri credit card, when I was in the uk I brought and paid for things in uk currency there was no extra charges and the MasterCard currency rate was good, I use it also on ebay & tested ebay conversion and what I got for choosing to pay in foreign currency and the rate turned out to be better, the card had to sent to my home address & I bank with this bank, while it say invitation I just went in and asked and no annual fee atm, I do not understand the charges for carrying over a balance I always pay mine in full each month.

did they charge you that "hedging fee" of 2% (listed at the bottom in the fees section). Is this their version of a foreign trans. fee? A hedging fee?
-
This might be better in the Banking Forum.
oops, didn't know about that forum, will move

There's no foreign transaction fee levied separately on thai issued debit and credit cards. Instead, they'll add up to 3 % on top of visa/mastercard currency exchange rates. So in practical, there are no cards exist in thailand which doesn't charge this markup on foreign currency transactions.
wow, never knew that is how they do. interesting to know. so, they add a 3% fee on top of the exchange rate? if this is not a foriegn transaction fee, what do they call this fee? and what is the difference? thanks
-
Hello, just wondering if anyone knows of any Thai banks offering no foreign transaction fee credit cards. No annual fee would also be a bonus. These are really my only criteria, but cant seem to find anything. I have a work permit and earn approximately 50K a month. Thanks.
-
And for those of us working in Thailand, evidently a work permit is no good for a normal , resident price anymore. I went to Sai Yok Yai ,Kanchanaburi (or tried to) the other day and was asked to pay 300Baht! - even with a valid work permit-- hhahahhahahhaha-- needless to say I did not go. Thanks for the appreciation of all of our hard work Thailand. BOOOOOOOO!

i was wondering this very same thing. I have an appointment coming up at the embassy. Since its on my way to work - I want to bring my backpack. Not too much info here as to whether they will store it for you in that little guardhouse. Anybody else can chime in?
thanks
