yes, 1/1/2 , 2 years is a long time, I have not been back since 2012 an know many that have not been back in decades>
It makes no sense to me to get the shot now< My life is pretty easy here in Phuket, dont go to bars ( when they were open) eat at home and shop once a week at central, avoid crowds>
Why risk flying, crowds at airport? add in the cost of flying and spending 2 weeks locked up on ur return here. I am happy waiting a few more months, there will be more results in, hospitals will than have a choice of vaccine ( at a price) and i'll get it than>>
whats the rush??Some good points. Not so much a "rush". The information given thus far on foreigners and vaccines has been dodgy at best, and contradictory- both concerning public and private options.

Where are you going to in the US? I would assume some places easier than others to get vaxxed.
I know LA is super easy and free.
Would be South San Francisco.

You aren't a resident, you have the same status as any tourist. Even Thais require a COE, so yes.
You mean the government social insurance?
Yes, currently two weeks.
I have "Generali" insurance, supplied by my workplace. Pretty basic. I also just bought covid insurance from a different company.

Whatever requirements you have for entering US, and all the normal requirements for entering Thailand (which can be arranged before you depart - COE, negative test before flight, ASQ booking). Would be best to check with Thai Embassy in US and start arranging it early, then plan flights and accommodation in US, as well as where you plan to get vaccine. Do however expect whole exercise to take about 1.5-2 months in total. Doesn't mean you could not work remotely if your job allows that.
Thanks for your reply. Concerning the COE and health insurance:
Would you know if I need to get a COE even being a resident and already having a Non imm B visa?
Would I need seperate health insurance other than my Thai insurance from my place of business?
Also, would they require a quarantine with 2 doses of vaccine?
thanks

Hi, Just wondering what is required to leave/ get vaccine (USA for me)/ and come back. I have a Non imm B work visa/work permit, and would be keeping my job and insurance - just would take a leave of absence. What documents/processes are required to leave and come back? Thanks

"if you live in an area of Thailand....." It's the WHOLE country, for SIX months a year now. Thsi place is ruined.

Don't forget the self imposed staggeringly high air pollution due to burning of sugar cane and rice fields. 6 months a year of PM 2.5 heaven.

That smoke cloud extends from BKK to Chumphon to the south and Chiang Rai to the north! After a brief respite during the Chinese new year they are back to burning the rice fields. Toxic levels of 2.5 PM air pollution in Hua Hin this morning again. ????
Exactly. Its.not from vehicles. Agri burning of sugar cane and rice. Money doesnt want to be parted with. Perhaps when no tourists come from November through April (the air is bad for HALF the year) because of the toxic air they will remedy the problem. Doubt it though.

Jeezuz...will they ever admit its from agri burning of sugar cane, rice fields?
<deleted> <deleted> just want to kill everyone. Would think BREATHING might be a priority. Testing buses does absolutley nothing to stop the problem. Dimwits.
-
Not the REAL problem. Agricultural burning is the cause. Keep avoiding the real problem, continue to loses billions and shorten people's lives.

So people are just scampering in and out of Myanmar at will and not quarantining when they come back to Thailand?
That’s not going to work out well.

After year long lease with owner for condo - does it just continue? Do I just go month to month after this period or must I sign a new lease?
What is the usual procedure in thailand? Thanks.

I just called 1178, and after double checking with supervisor, the nice person on the line told me I needed to go to CW. I made clear I was talking about the residence certificate needed for driver's license. I hope it's correct because I intend to go this week.
LOLz. Rolled the dice and went to MTT. It was the correct place. Halfway to Ayuthaya. 1st building counter B I think. They did not have forms but I had luckily downloaded and printed the one that Joe had kindly provided (link above).
Copy of:
TM30 (I had copy of application screenshot)
owner of condo's ownership papers,
just about every page in passport,
tm6 card
90 day report.
The said it will arrive in 3 weeks! Glad I made that appointment with DLT for 2 weeks from now, guess I'll be making a new appointment (in person of course because farang cant make appt. over the phone evidently) for sometime in 2021. Wow.
I've never had this much difficulty attaining anything in my entire life. Makes you wanna drive without one.- 1

The Administrator of the Facebook ThaiVisa group says it is definitely Muang Thong Thani for Certficates of Residence, even though the graphic posted by Ubonjoe doesn't say this. I suggest you try there. let us know how you get on, as I will need to get one soon too!
Thanks. I suppose I'll flip a coin Lolz. I'm getting conflicting information. It's amazingly difficult. I don't understand why they can't just have my address on my work permit.

I do have a tm 30 receipt. I have all the neccesary documents (I hope).
the Imm. offficer didn't even look at my documents, he was very abrupt and aggravated that I had a question (big surprise).
I asked him for a form for a certificate of residence he then gave me a notification of residence form. I said " I think this is the wrong form", to which he replied - 'you go muang thong thani".
I asked another officer inside and he said the same thing. I also tried to explain that this form was incorrect and I needed the certificate of residence for a driver's license.
I'm thoroughly confused now as to which office I should go to. ?

I am sure Chaeng Wattana is the correct office.
I don't think he understood what you wanted. Download this form Application For Certificate Of Residency48.26 kB · 1,121 downloads , print it out and show it to them next time.
Thanks Joe. They said location changed ( to Muang thong thani ) on July 13th. Is that location for other services?

Hi, I recently went to Changwattanna to get a certificate of residence (for a driver's license). The officer gave me a notification of residence form
(wrong form ) and told me to go to Muang thong thani? I left bewildered and having wasted a half a day. Since he gave me the wrong form, I am assuming he doesn't understand what I wanted to get. I explained it was for a driver's license to no avail. Now I am wondering if he is correct about the office I need to go to as well, I would hate to have to waste another day going to the wrong office especially as they place these offices as far away from central BKK as they possibly can. Can anyone confirm for me that Muang Thong Thani is the correct office to go to for a CERTIFICATE OF RESIDENCE (OR RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE). Thanks. I have called, written emails, no coherent replies.

bumping the thread.
There is news!
Let's assume it's not another flip-flop and they really restart the DL procedure.
https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1167615-department-of-land-transport-new-normal-driving-license-test/
Best to visit one's DLT office and ask how to proceed.
I have "heard' they are open from a friend and now this "announcement". Does this mean they are open but you have to book in advance (2 to 5 year license)? And they are currently not accepting any more bookings until July 1st?
The whole thing is shrouded in mystery and secrecy for some reason. I've tried to call but couldn't get through. The website still says they are closed. If anyone has any insight and can confirm any of this heresay it would be greatly appreciated. -
Someone mentioned that Khao Lak isn’t selling alcohol? Can anyone’s confirm or refute this? Seems odd that they would still have prohibition.

That might indeed be quite stressful.
Even when offices are open for license issues they are crowded.
The problem will be the amount of leeway you get when the offices open and the decree ends as there will be literally thousands of people with expired licences.
Therein lies the rub. When offices open how much time will they give to renew? It's going to be a madhouse. Not to mention Covid incubator.
-
Hi does anyone know if the DLT is open for renewing driver's licenses? ( 2 to 5 year). Thanks.
