  1. http://thaimtb.com/

It is in Thai but you can always use your Google Translate if you wish.

Lots of rides and great photos too of rides. Thai's love to ride bikes.

Yeah, that is a good one. I sure wish they would get the English forum working again.

Well you and I have the privilege of having 2 long hair dictionary's.

Besides being pretty and good cooks they come in handy for those pesty Thai only sites.:))

  2. Hay Joe, been hanging around Pro Bike in Bangkok the last few days ( I live in CM)they have a Trek 6800 for around 49K and a trek 8500 (OMG what a beauty) for around 105K

both bikes will last you a life time. Well worth the extra money if you plan to ride for many years. I think you can recieve a nice discount too if you ask.

  3. "I've got a fixed gear bike here in Chiang Mai too, but you definitely wouldn't like it. It's solid black and it has two sets of cables for the brakes."

el jefe, they had 1 solid all black one with brakes at Pro Bike, it was great looking. Even gave some thought to buy it. I do want brakes at least a front brake.

I watch bikes ride by even if it was purchased from Tesco. Love to see them roll.

One of my bikes is a Trek Modone road bike which that year was all dark, still a pretty bike. Last week i did change the handle bar tape from black to red to give it a little color.

Do you ride your black fixed gear a lot around town or where?

  4. Get ‘Fixed’ in Chiang Mai maybe VeloCity might be a good idea for me Ianf.

Yes you are so correct Fixed Gears have been out for 50 years or even much longer. I was reading about them yesterday and read a quote form a man about his fixed gear bicycle vs a muliti gear bike dated something early 1900s.

Ianf, what do you think about a belt driven fixed bike. I saw a belt drive fixed gear in light blue with orange wheels, SWEET!

  5. I am in Bangkok for a few days and stopped trice now at Pro Bikes. Nice store.

Wish we had a store like this in Chiang Mai. Reminds me or Helens Bike store in Santa Monica.

Anyway, I own a full suspension mountain bike a hard tail bike and a road bike, the bike I do not have

yet is a FIXED GEAR.....I find them so beautiful to look at. The colors and the lack of cables

running all over adds to their beauty.

They work well here in Bangkok and of course I would not take it or could for the matter up

DS and any big hill but on the flat I bet there are fun to ride.

I see them around sometimes in CM does anyone have one here on TV? If so, do you like it?

I used to ride a unicycle kind of the same concept but with 2 wheels.

  6. HAAAAA betico, you are now entering T_Dogs specialty area.

But, if you are going to ride up to Doi Pui start heading down from Doi Pui and stop for a hot cup of coffee at the coffee plantation. Drink up and head down to huay tung tao reservoir. Pass the lake/reservoir and make a right on Canel Rd and ride home or it's great to stop off for a swim at 700 studium pool. Nice door to door ride. 4 hours plus of riding.

I've done it a few times after a rain, not as much fun as now. Go for it son and you will want to do it again.

  7. Got my CBR150R today =) here is a pic.

I stopped into to the Honda dealer here in CM yesterday. Wanted to see the new 250CBR. The cute girl

told me "do not have, but we have this" and pointed to a bike like your new bike. What a nice looking bike dude, very sharp.

Ride her in the best of health.

  8. My wife and I love the live threader.

I would love to plug the play we saw last night "Driving Miss Daisy"

We enjoyed it so much. If you want a great evening out it is a must see.

I believe the only dates are Friday and Saturday night starts at 7pm but

I would get there early I believe it was sold out.

Arrive around 6:20 have a glass of red or white wine (if you drink) and

purchase a ticket. Enjoyable evening the cast did a great job.

"another of Stephan's great" that is for sure

  9. "Hate to tempt you but I was in Mityon on the corner of 3rd Road and Pattaya Tai a couple of days ago and they had a red one (PCX) in the showroom ! Would have been interested myself if I hadn't already bought a white one. Looked like a special paint job so probably quite a bit dearer than the standard colour schemes.

Oops - just seen you are in Chiang Mai, it would have to be a heck of a temptation to make you come this far!"

Hay what a great idea, I'm going to Pattaya to find a red PCX honey, may take 2 weeks to find it.:))

Thanks for the temptation gmac, once I see the red one here I may go for it. Thanks for the post.

  10. "He's an American citizen, why would he give that up. As I understand it, you cannot have dual citizenship in Thailand.

I could be wrong. If that's the case, would you suggest he drop his American"

Yes you may have dual. I know 2 folks who do.

They check into Thailand using the Thai passport, when leaving Thailand for the USA they use both the Thai and the American passport.

Checking in and out of the USA they only use the American passport.

  11. Thanks jackcorbett for the detaled review.

I own Nouvo Elegance which I really enjoy. It's perfect for the city. My choose 2 years ago were between the Airblade and the Nouvo Elegance. I still own a CBR500 1980 which I bought (wish I had it here) new so I love Honda's but the Elegance won hands down.

I'm sure today I would go for the PCX and still might when they come out with a red one. I saw a photo here on TV of a PCX in red...wow sure did like it.

I bought my wife a new bike this year and being the last of the big spenders I told her she could have any bike she wanted. I was hoping she would want a Nouvo Elegance because she uses her bike for shopping....but NOOOO it is to big for her "her words" so we ended up with the the work horse Dream 125 Honda. She's happy and loves the bike.

  12. looking forward to buy two beach cruiser bikes, the best would be online. (new or second hand)

comfort, good price and shipping will be much appreciated.

    T.

You can buy these in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. They seem to becoming popular here now.

As a child I had a many beach cruisers maybe because I lived at the beach? One speed coaster brakes were/are so cool. Would be fun to have one around here

    just for kicks.

I believe Trek has one out sold at Jackies.

Talking about bicycle....your yellow bike showen here T-Dog his is one hot looking bike.

  13. For many Thais Red is unlucky. And they will not ride or drive a red vehicle. Last year i had an accident on my red bike. the girlfriend asked me to sell it and not get another red bike. i agreed cos i was getting a car anyway. then went and bought a 'cherry' bike it aint red its cherry so thats ok :D

Now that PCX in red looks great.

I never heard about the color red being unlucky on a MC. Just asked boths sides of my next door folks, he is 65 years old with a red 125 Dream 80kilos. He has never heard of any thing of the sort. He did smile and think well maybe I sould buy a new MC then.:)

Not saying some Thai's might think a red bike in unlucky. I'll keep checking around. Now the the VIN number ends with the number "4" that is thought of unluckly all over asia.

  14. And back to the 2011 Nouvo (#2).......

    Ok 2long part 2,

When you purchase your new Nouvo 2011 buy the tubeless tires. One nice thing about the tubeless tires I discovered is I was able to ride

on the flat a ways. Not recommented but it can be done.
