  1. It is far too complicated for Thailand to manage. Anything of substantial complexity just seems to fall apart for them. I can think of three different ways that politicians can make money from this scheme. Once they figure that out, they will start to enrich themselves and the whole thing will collapse. 1. Take bribes under the table from accused taxi drivers, to make their accusation just disappear. 2. Take kickbacks from the company hired to create the database that manages this whole. 3. Take a kickback from companies competing to create the training class, in order to award the contract.
  2. She is the one who called for the locksmith. Obviously smarter than the mom!
  3. Do these tourism numbers sound even remotely plausible? If I did the math right, that’s about 93,000 international arrivals each & every day. Seriously?
  4. Yeah, you should call that as you are plunging to your doom.
  5. Might be better if your wife posted in a Thai language site with other Thai ladies. Likely to get better results, if she is up to it.
  6. The lady was later arrested for damaging the reputation of Thailand by filing a police report of the theft.
  7. Hi. I'm an American, I came in on June 11 visa exempt. I had hoped they'd be giving the 60-day stamp by then, but no... got a 30-day stamp. I'll need to do a 30-day extension to cover my stay. Currently in BKK but I hate going to that main immigration office. We'll be in Surat Thani in a couple of weeks. How is it there? Can I walk in with just my passport and get an extension? Will I have to fight with Chinese trying to cut the line, or IO's making up new rules? I used to do this in Hua Hin at the BluPort mall, and it was in-and-out in like 10 minutes. Can I hope for a similar experience in Surat Thani? Thank you
  8. I’m really not sure what this is all about, but if I’m in a public pool and someone tells me to leave they are going to be S – out of luck. If they are offended by my presence, they can go elsewhere.
  9. How long have you been with her? Maybe 24 years lol
  10. The number one new business here will be import of Chinese and Russian mafia. That always follows the introduction of casinos.
  11. Anyone know what elephant sanctuary this is?
  12. I was waiting for the part where it says he's not insured, or that his insurance refuses to pay. Happily, this is not the case. Not only paid, but also transported him back home which is amazingly expensive for medical transport. Wishing him well!
  13. We've been outside LOS for about 3 years now, but coming back soon for an extended visit. Among other things, we are looking at a short-term rental in BKK near Swampy. That rental would be around 5-7 days. This is townhouse, not a condo tower. The owner says that renting 5 days is legit, but we have heard that rules have tightened up recently and that maybe 28-30 days minimum is required. Do we run afoul of the law to rent a townhouse for 5 days, and is there a chance we'll be prevented from occupying if we get reported by a neighbor or mgmt. We want to follow the rules and not take a chance. Thank you.
  14. Don’t know anything about AIA, but why wouldn’t they pay for this?
