  1. Hi. I'm an American, I came in on June 11 visa exempt. I had hoped they'd be giving the 60-day stamp by then, but no... got a 30-day stamp. I'll need to do a 30-day extension to cover my stay. Currently in BKK but I hate going to that main immigration office. We'll be in Surat Thani in a couple of weeks. How is it there? Can I walk in with just my passport and get an extension? Will I have to fight with Chinese trying to cut the line, or IO's making up new rules? I used to do this in Hua Hin at the BluPort mall, and it was in-and-out in like 10 minutes. Can I hope for a similar experience in Surat Thani? Thank you
  2. I’m really not sure what this is all about, but if I’m in a public pool and someone tells me to leave they are going to be S – out of luck. If they are offended by my presence, they can go elsewhere.
  3. How long have you been with her? Maybe 24 years lol
  4. The number one new business here will be import of Chinese and Russian mafia. That always follows the introduction of casinos.
  5. Anyone know what elephant sanctuary this is?
  6. I was waiting for the part where it says he's not insured, or that his insurance refuses to pay. Happily, this is not the case. Not only paid, but also transported him back home which is amazingly expensive for medical transport. Wishing him well!
  7. We've been outside LOS for about 3 years now, but coming back soon for an extended visit. Among other things, we are looking at a short-term rental in BKK near Swampy. That rental would be around 5-7 days. This is townhouse, not a condo tower. The owner says that renting 5 days is legit, but we have heard that rules have tightened up recently and that maybe 28-30 days minimum is required. Do we run afoul of the law to rent a townhouse for 5 days, and is there a chance we'll be prevented from occupying if we get reported by a neighbor or mgmt. We want to follow the rules and not take a chance. Thank you.
  8. Don’t know anything about AIA, but why wouldn’t they pay for this?
  9. hmmm.... maybe that's it. Wife upgraded her iPhone last month, so maybe it's an anti-fraud thing when they detected the new phone.
  10. Yes, we had app & website access before. As said in my post, we use them regularly (at least monthly) since leaving. Today when we tried was the first time it didn't work.
  11. It was for a non-O extension for marriage, and thus only a 400K deposit. Not sure if that was enough to induce excitement ????
  12. Hi. I have an account with Bangkok Bank in my name only. Was used for my extension of stay when I lived there. I'm now in the States with my Thai wife; we've continued using the bank account remotely with the app on my iPhone to send money to in-laws, pay Thai bills, etc. Have made at least 1 transaction per month for the past 2 years. I have also deposited money remotely when exchange rates were good. Today, we wake up to find out we're locked out of the account. It had some screens on how to restore access with your bank book, ATM card, and PIN number -- we have all of those. But each method failed. Of course, if we try too many times, we'll end up super-double locked out so we've stopped trying. But to be clear -- I know my ATM PIN, my online Bualuang PIN, and have both the ATM card & bank book in hand. Sounds like they will want me to march into a local branch with PP in order to unlock the account -- kinda tough from 7000 miles away. Has anyone successfully navigated this problem, to unlock an account by phone or whatever? I know how intransigent & unreasonable banks can be on this matter. Thanks
  13. No. It’s been flagged as more contagious. Not necessarily more dangerous. Symptoms seem to be generally mild
