  1. Is it just me, or do the Thais overuse the word "resort" here?

To me the bare minimum would be swimming pools, tennis courts maybe golf and horseback riding, all self-contained in a single large complex. Other than of course when used for an entire town or area, as in "ski resort, seaside resort".

But I guess there isn't a good English word for "collection of bungalows", maybe "development"?

Were there 70 separate developments, or just 70 houses?

And wasn't this supposed to be a problem caused by foreigners? No mention of that here funny enough. . .

Don't worry they will twist the facts around and foreigners will be blamed.

  2. Anyone with an active brain cell has known from day one that the whole PTP agenda has been about getting Big T off on all charges and allowing him to return and take control of the party officially. All of the smoke screens that people throw up about fairness ( no one else is ever tried for corruption why should he be) are just mudding the waters.

I guess I'm wondering about this and my question is: even if true - so what? What's so catastrophic about a popular politician other than he's not your favorite or in your favorite party.

How can anyone point to one politician in Thailand and say that one is more corrupt than others? Reconcilliation, yes....but the reforms needed elsewhere in Thai society are infinitely more important. Thaksin is merely a convenient distraction for what really needs to change.

This must be a troll. No one can be this ignorant and stupid.

    Calgaryll under cover?

    My thoughts exactly.
  3. 'O' It was only a reading and it's going well. (SMOOTHLY) and it's the 3rd reading.

So much for all the PM Yingluck knockers, she was not really required for the reading at all, her trip overseas was therefore more important.

Parliament President Somsak Kiartsuranon said the third reading of the charter amendment bill will be held on May 8.

He said he hoped that the second reading of the bill, which resumed Wednesday, would continue smoothly.

    The Nation

    http://www.nationmul...d-30180176.html

It simply wouldn't make any diference if she was there or not concerning the charter admendment. It would be of no value to the debate as she can't even answer a simple question much less one about the charter. But the thing is that she avoids parliament like a plague because it is totally out of her league. There are no questions about the latest fashion raised there.
  4. A long self exiled, popular leader, Thaksin would come back tomorrow if the democrat party agreed to reconcile but they don't. They're using the Thaksin returning issue as a bargaining chip, because they know if Thaksin returns they haven't got a chance of re-election in the next general election. Oh and what are they bargaining for, well to stay out of jail for crimes of ordering the shooting of red shirts two years ago.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.
  5. It wasn't just the economy "Why" it was the whole Thaksin era craze, every where he would go in Thailand, thousands would come out to greet him and wish him well, cause he was the peoples champion, he came from a poor background and worked his way to the top and now he wanted to share this dream with the poor people of Thailand, give them hope, that they too, one day could do the same as this is a free and democratic society now.

From a poor background???? That just shows how brain washed you are!

Either brain washed or ignorant. I lean toward ignorant.

IGNORANT: The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.

  6. You predict his days are numbered, so it is you with the crystal ball and not Thaksin. Thaksin does give to charities in Thailand regulary, He donated lots of money to the poor during the flooding last year. You all have Thaksinphobea did any of you doubters live in Thailand when Thaksin was Prime Minister? I did and it was great, heads of western countries made visits often and everyone was so happy and proud to be Thai.

You seem to speak as one who knows about Thaksin's charitable donations. Please enlighten us all with links to back up your statement. Or is this just a figment of your imagination? Links and proof please.
  7. Someone posted that I've lost the plot raving on about how great Thaksin has been for democracy in Thailand and theres some of you posting that if Thaksin returns it will be the end of days for Thailand and compare Thaksin to Robert Mugabe or Pol Pot. Thaksin has already been in power before and did a great job and it was nothing like a dictatorship, rather the most uncorrupt, democratic time Thailand ever had.

Where have we heard all this before?

In your dreams? Your conscience speaks to you and says to stop the vendetta and instead reach out and to embrace your enemies.

Feel the love. Share the love.

Wow thanks Dr. GK. I feel so much better now. wai.gif

  9. Then why not grant a re-trial so he can return. I don't blame him not wanting to spend 2 years in a Thai jail and what about thos in the democrat party who were involved in the ordering of troops to fire live rounds at red shirt protesters 2 years ago. Will they be brought to justice? Wipe the slate clean, let Thaksin come back and move on, that's what the majority want not just Thaksin.

Evidently you've been watching the red shirt DNN Democracy Dictator News Network.

  10. Please return so we can finally end this bitterness, feud between the elite and Thaksin. It is time to get over it and move ahead, as there are far more important things for Thailand to worry about, the asean, china slow growth this year, the strong baht, high speed rail links, potential flooding again, tourism, etc...

Thaksin can end the feud today by simply stepping onto his private plane, returning and follow the rule of law. Someone needs to convince the PTP there are far more important things for Thailand to worry about, the asean, china slow growth this year, the strong baht, high speed rail links, potential flooding again, tourism, etc...

their number one priority is bring Thaksin back as a free man. Thaksin thinks PTP does.

  11. I have to agree with Thaksin about signs of reconciliation - nobody tried to shoot him (yet). Perhaps they heard about his immortality amulet.

Whatever the numbers, there certainly wasn't enough to feed his ego, or risk a war.

His biggest hazard will probably be an ex-Red who feels he wasn't compensated as promised. We all know how ugly it can get around here when somebody doesn't get money they think they deserve. There was an incident of an Issani a few months back who went to visit T in Cambodia, where he was holding court at the time, to collect compensation he never received and the goons tossed him out without letting him get near Big Boss. I'm sure that guy is still stewing, and that there are lot's more like him.

Or a family member of one of the abandoned reds serving prision sentences for following arson orders of Thaksin's minions. Who by the way got promoted to government positions and became MPs.

  12. So , it's pretty clear.

    About 50,000 people attended.

Looks like Calgary had a point.

Calgary's point being that you can make up numbers as you go? 50000 people expected to go to Ankor Wat, not 50.000 Red Shirts crossed the border to stroke Thaksin's ego.

The article reported that Sa Keaw Immigration deputy superintendent Pol Lt-General Ben-chapol Rodsawat said some 164 buses, van, pick-ups and cars caried 7,432 red-shirts to Cambodia.

That number (7,432) indicated red-shirts and not the 50,000 Thais expected on a holiday weekend.

Why let the facts get in the way of a supporting exaggeration?
  13. In the attached thumbnail Thaksin's photo is on the sole of the foot. I wonder why that is?

    They are crab claws.

ok if they are crab claws I stand corrected.

But I would still like the answer to the following by one of the red supporters on TV. It is quite interesting that the red shirts use the foot clappers to show support for Thaksin at their rallies. As we all know, in Thai culture the head is the most sacred part of the body and the feet are the lowest and filthiest. One should never show the soles of the feet to anyone or use the feet to point to anything. Why do the reds use foot clappers.

No attached thumbnail so couldn't possibly tell you.

Ok maybe now you can tell me? If you can't maybe GK can. I have always wondered this. Not spamming, I'm serious.

  15. Bring Thaksin back quickly please and let's move on....he is a man who got things done for the country (whilst enriching himself and his cronies) which to me is better than some other useless dope like Abhisit who got nothing done (while enriching himself and his cronies)....

Besides which, the country cannot be reconciled until he comes back

I'm sure you have proof of your accusations and can provide links. Please do.

  16. If The Nation cites 50,000, the real figure could be much higher, could it not ???

At least 50,000 people travelled to a foreign country to see an ex prime minister.

Must be a reason for that.

    AFP

Up to 30,000 people had gathered at the site, according to Siem Reap deputy provincial governor Bun Tharith, although an AFP reporter at the scene said the crowd appeared closer to 10,000.

    http://www.thaivisa....-at-mass-rally/

Of course we know the Siem Reap deputy province governor Bun Tharith would have no reason to lie about the numbers attending with Thaksin's eternal friend Hun Sen looking over his shoulder.

  17. Perhaps I'm not clear about reconcilliation, I thought it meant conversing and exchanging views with people whom you disagree with.

In the real world you are 100% correct. But in PTP's world it is "my way or no way". Case in point is Yongyuth's statement. We don't need no stinkin dialogue with people comes to mind.

    It's very difficult to hold dialogue with people who were stating, even back in December 2011;

"If the red-shirt movement does not come to an end, then the reconciliation cannot be achieved as per the 66/23 model,"

(Pheu Thai MP Wattana Muangsuk, who is also deputy chairman of the House of Representatives committee on reconciliation, said earlier that his panel would study the 66/23 formula for reconciliation.

The 66/23 model was used by General Prem Tinsulanonda's government, which allowed communists to return to society and join a national development programme.)

    http://www.nationmul...e-30172336.html

So you agree as long as it is endorsed by a PTP controlled parliament there is no need to hold dialogue with anyone who disagrees and consider their point of view right?
