They all finish their term of duty next year. Maybe he'll be questioned then.
But this is Thailand and who knows what might happen?

I read this story just before going to sleep last night. I thought at the time there would be a lot of interesting comments when I wake up.
I wasn't disappointed!
I think the main reasons that Thailand doesn't follow a lot of countries and introduce a visible room tax are
1. There are so many unlicensed hotels and Airbnb operations
2. Half of the tax collected would end up in the hotel owners'pockets as they only declare a portion of actual guests. (this happens already with existing room taxes paid to local governments).

So they identified 114 illegal firearm suppliers in a matter of a couple of days. So why didn't they do something about it earlier?
The whole police system is one big joke (pun not intended)

I'd prefer them to get rid of the afternoon non-selling times rather than extend the nightime hours.....though wouldn't complain if they amended both.

Amazing what makes news sometimes. I have encountered a few people who have forgotten where they are staying and on more than one occasion have helped them. I partiicularly remember one man who left his luggage as he was too early to check in and was walking around in the Phuket heat wearing an overcoat! No idea how we found his hotel but somehow we dod.

Trying to move a 1960s style lottery into the digital age is failing.
Time for a complete revamp of the entire system to bring it into the 21st century.

Made my mind up that I won't return to Thailand on a full time basis when my daughter finishes her education here in the UK. I'll spend a few months in Thailand on a tourist visa but no more retirement extensions.

Have they been using the TAT calculator to work this out? How can a 100 baht ticket with odds of 999,999-1 pay out 180m? Plus other prizes.

I saw this article the other day. I think it is based on skewed data.
The official population of Phuket is based on those that are registered as living in the province. Most Thais people that live and work in Phuket are registered in other provinces, not to forget the many thousands of Burmese migrant workers. The same goes for the other Thai provinces high up in the list.
Other countries don't use this registration system to record official populations in particular areas, and I'm sure this is the reason for Thai resort areas faring so poorly.
I'll also add that it's an odd method of defining overcrowding anyway. It would mean that cities with large populations would never appear on the list, though many are undoubtedly more overcrowded than many of the places on that list.

A whole list of remote working spaces. Surely perfect for a bust by the "work permit police".

2 hours ago, webfact said:The move, a short-term measure to boost foreign tourism, is expected to see an increase in the number of Chinese visitors to the kingdom this year by 700,000 people after arrivals from China have been disappointing due to tighter screening introduced earlier in the year with an economic downturn and loss of consumer confidence in the Communist country.
Am I reading this correctly? The numbers were down partly due to tighter screening, meaning more Chinese were denied entry. Yet those denied a visa for whatever reason can now enter Thailand anyway? Seems an odd move to me but when has anything in Thailand ever been thought through properly?

So, nothing to do with past dodgy practices then?

What a great idea. Let's get all the old folk working on farms and in factories. It will slow production but kill them off faster and reduce the size of the plus-60 population.
I wonder what the usual retirment age is where you come from? In the UK it's now 66, rising to 57. 60 is too young, especially for most government employees. MPs are the exception of course!

The easiest way to maintain the workforce is to stop compulsory retirement at 60.

Nothing in the main tourist areas of course.

They could do all this in a couple of days if the system allowed it. Five more weeks allowing a caretaker government to make decisions with no mandate from the people is quite wrong.
The whole Thai electoral system needs a revamp, but it probably won't happen under this new PM and his new gang of cronies.

Today Sreetha will be elected PM.
Early Parliamentary debate will indirectly involve pardon of Thaksin.
Royal pardon officially occurring next month.
Out of his luxury cell in the Bangkok Hilton within a month.
All pre-planned and pre-agreed with the Parliamentary partners, the uncles and someone else.
And they all live happily ever after.

Could it be that a BJT/PP coalition with support from the senate might be the best option for Thailand?
A minority Government would not last very long. A no confidence vote does not include the senate. Another election, followed by an MFP landslide, especially as the senate's PM voting power finishes next May and all would fall into place as if should have this time round.
Perhaps I'm just fantasising as the so-called elites will find a way to retain power whatever.

Do the cops have to pay for them or are they issued free?
And do they keep the same uniform when they have put on several extra inches around the belly?

The article is about outbound tourism. I think the posters so far have only read the headline!
