Could be to do with the CRS. Since 2016 financial instituitions based in nearly every country are obliged to submit information including cash withdrawals, name of investor, country of tax residence with ID no. and investment valuation at the end of the preceeding year. This information in turn is then passed on to the investor's country's tax authorities. A list of countries signed up to the CRS can be found here https://www.oecd.org/about/ under the tab "Countries". I agree, I see no reason why thay shouldn't contact the individual involved in the first place and only then contact immigation, as a last resort, if they are unable to obtain a satisfactory conclusion.

My understanding is that there is no liability to Thai income tax (capital gains is taxed as income) on foreign sourced income provided the income is not brought into Thailand in the same calender year as it is received. I would suggest advisable to have the funds, upon receipt, paid into a bank a/c overseas and then transfer into Thailand the following year. Not sure if it is acceptable to post here links to 3rd party web sites but if you Google - thailand overseas investment income tax for foreigners - you should find something of use.

On the old system always entered my full name. On the new system didn't enter first and middle name as not indicated as required, no problem for the first two ocassions, accepted within a day or so. Last week submitted again, without first and middle names and today rec'd an e-mail "rejected". Just re-submitted (not due until 27 this month) - will see what happens!
