Ok lets say you were asked to produce the original passport at a checkpoint and what will you do? Can you just explain them that you are living here whatever years and never had such a experience? pointless. they wont listen to you unless there is a legal statement mentioned that foreigners do not required to carry their original passport with them. If have such a legal statement please share.
https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/436133/passports-better-safe-than-sorry I dont know whether this post is still valid or not. but according to the post "all tourists and expats nationwide are required to carry their original passports with them at all times by laws."You do as you wish and I will carry on the same and hopefully no one loses their passport as it is terribly inconvenient. Especially when asked by a Policeman for it and you say I don't have one.

how are you gonna explain or prove this to a random police officer who can barely understand english? with my experience it is just give 1000 baht or go with them to police station which I believe no one would ever agree to do so. Police officer refused my driving license, soft-copy of my passport and workpermit. are there any legal statement which we can simply show them in case.
Carry your passport if you like . 1000B fine is a lot cheaper than losing your passport. In over 30 years I have never had that problem with a Policeman.

Where was that quote from pls ?
Its in the text.....Thai Visa. In more than 30 years, unless traveling to another province I have never carried my passport, only copies. I would rather pay any fine than lose my passport. As a lot of that traveling is on a bike it is always a possibility. I have never been fined. I carry a plastic wallet on my bikes and car with copies of my passport, green/blue book insurances etc.

Pol Col Voravat Amornvivat told Thaivisa that he wanted to reassure the expat community. "Making all foreigners in Thailand carry their original passports with them would be very difficult," he said. "It's about being reasonable and using common sense."
He said tourists would not have to carry their original passports and expats could use a Thai driving licence if they have one, or a photocopy of their passport as a form of identification.

Essentially, Britain will be a colony of the EU, with its laws and resources controlled by the EU while the British don't even get a vote or say in the matter.
Hopefully that will end shortly. (Been saying that for over 4 years!)

5,000 injured in Beirut against 100 Thais in Chiang Mai. 571 homes damaged in Chiang Mai, 300,000 homeless in Beirut. Good comparison.
Whilst the numbers will never compare. I don't think the official figure included a number of Burmese workers.

Anyone got recommendations for a small repair jobs builder? Water leaking from upstairs bathroom will require toilet bowl removal for a start. Job will be south side of town.
Thankyou

BTW did anyone force your wife into becoming a rubber planter?
Mr Thaksin encouraged farmers to grow rubber. His government offered a grant so that farmers could get young trees cheaper. That is why so many got into the rubber business. Unfortunately many lost out as apparently many of the trees were of poor stock, dead or dying and of a low yield. Some while ago the government encouraged farmers to cut down their rubber trees and sell the wood. One word comes to mind. Shafted!

Or simply teach/educate/force people to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. (I know, it will never happen, but.....)

An alcohol ban in Chiang Mai from April 10th through April 30? This amount of time doesn't seem nearly long enough to do any good.
Typical drinking behavior is not conducive to maintaining proper social distancing behavior, which is crucial during this season of the virus.
These days, all the refrigerated display cases in shops are filled with nothing but soft drinks and juice of various colors and flavors.
I like the new look.
Maybe the ban on alcohol will be extended until July 1st, or maybe not.
We will just wait and see.
