  1. Have you actually been to Pattaya? To rubbish the claim that baht buses are responsible for traffic congestion and pollution here really suggests you haven't got a clue. If you feel that way, that I make rubbish comments, why are you now asking my opinion?
  2. Hardly a new idea. There is a temple near Bang Saray that takes in wayward people.... they take their phones off them and are subjected to a monks regime. (No not playing cards and drinking all day!)
  3. The reality is it simply does not end there.....from the 220 baht the ATM wants, the proposed 300 baht airport fee, the special price of everyday services, the selective treatment by traffic police, random littering accusations etc etc to the silly payments, fines and certifications immigration require... it can wear one down. Other than that, great place to retire......
  4. Last time I looked we weren't in the 'All of the world thread' either!. 'This happens everywhere' comments are dullard responses..
  5. It happens rather often... drunken suicidal intent perhaps, I don't understand why. Perhaps they could save a life or two each year by putting a park bench near the railway crossings.
  6. Well we cannot speak generally of Thailand as it varies place to place.... As far as Pattaya is concerned, it is not the liberal place where many whizzed around freely in the 1980s, without helmet between beaches and hotels. The police are more active... it is of course a money making exercise for them, and visiting tourists are a good source of it. The renters do not check your documents and rent out easily, they do not do the job of the police. The police will stop and fine you for not wearing a helmet, and also randomly to check you have an IDP. And possibly other infringements, real or imagined. You will likely get pulled over on Beach Rd, Dolphin roundabout, 3rd Rd, and other places the police are active.... they want to see an IDP I believe. An IDP can only be used up to 90 days after which a local licence is needed.
  7. Here we go...... get the red carpets ready and welcome him like a Russian tourist......
  8. Moving the cost from visas and such on arrival, and onto entrance prices to National Parks etc seems to be the latest cunning plan.......
  9. So the recently announced police actions aren't working....not working seems to be an expected situation where the police are concerned.
  10. Probably needs the truck to go to work this morning....oh hang on, it's a holiday!
  11. Give Mots a try perhaps.... https://www.mots-services.com/
  12. What a lovely endearing action to help promote tourism......please hurry and start taking the 300 baht airport tourism arrival tax too!
  13. And yet they came........ So do Ford shut down the line Monday. or pay everyone a bonus to work,? Or move back to Oz.......?

Yep, the guy in front of you didn't order it either, still trying to palm it off!
  15. Possibly that pit bulls in total, are worse than we thought as the stats get subdivided into subcategories!
  16. Not impressed myself... quite expensive and small amounts overwrapped was my thoughts there.
  17. Try Tops in Central Festival Beach Rd .. had a fair cheese selection.
  18. Was there an effective rudder for the previous 9 years, or did the country simply drift with a wooden figurehead on the prow?
  19. Here on dual carriageways they often make their own U-Turns, frequently some barrier in the middle is just demolished or removed.
  20. Will the fake news be produced by AI?
  21. I must be thick... I keep getting caught out by the before 11am and after 2pm restrictions.....
  22. jacko45k replied to JimTripper's topic in Pattaya
    Some bars have walls!
  23. Nonsense quotes. Labradors are by far a more common large dog pet and I suggest your stats do not take that into account. Staffordshire bull terriers seem to rule.. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-06/labradors-dangerous-dogs-list-gold-coast-attacks/101125122 Do I really have to dig up a gruesome pic of a torn up child to make some point... poorly. No, it is infantile.
