  1. So how to the guys survive?

One friend told me that 80% of the Thai guys are keeping all their money for themselves and use it for drink, go out with friends and girls (yes)...

Girls even with a boyfriend are pretty much on her own and assume all responsibilities. That's also why a lot of Thai girls like Farangs.

You can deduct that 80% of the girls you meet will dump their boyfriend if you offer her a stable situation.

Of course if you are here for one month and go back to your country, do not expect the girl to leave everything for you. Thai life is hard enough so that they always try to have a backup solution, just in case. Some Farang will say that Thai girls are not committed but it is not exactly true, they are just worried by the future, and 'invest' in several opportunity.

  2. Taking with girls for a while, I got these information I need to share, I think it is useful for all to understand why so many are on beach road at night...and why all girls are looking at us like the Messie.

Waitress are making about 8-12k baths a month if they do not go with clients. It is very hard to live in Pattaya with such a low income, specially if you have a kid for example. Now I give a tip, (10%) all the time, please do it too, this can make the difference at the end of the month. In some bars they share the tips, in some others, the waitress get the full tip for her, better choose one where she get your tip.

Waitress who can go with clients are making a salary of 3000 baths, the owner in general assume that she will go with clients and make more.

In general, all regular business (not sex related) are offering salary between 8000 to 12000 baths a month. Because rent is minimum 5000 baths, not counting other expenses, Thai girls needs to share the rent with others, or find another source of income.

Girls who do not want to do sex must have 2 jobs to have a 16000+ income which is the bare minimum for having a life in Pattaya. That means working 16 hours/day.

All the girls even in the nice shops of Central Festival are struggling every month to pay the rent and food, it is a very tough situation and very depressing. That's why Thais are helping each other. When one has problem they often give them 1000 or 2000 baths so she do not end up in prostitution. If you get help one day you remember it forever and will help too in return. This creates network of 'friends' helping each other. If one knows a Farang who has an empty condo, and some of her friends has lost her job, or she is just arrived in Pattaya and has no job, she will temporary let her use the condo, even sleep on the floor for the time she find a job...

In consequence it is very hard for them to avoid having sex with strangers to have the 2000 or 3000 baths to pay for the rent at the end of the month. If you don't pay the rent, you end up sleeping on the beach...

I hope this gives some perspective when you next will talk to some nice girls. :ermm:

  3. I made a direct transfer from Bank of America in the USA to Katsikorn Bank, it took only 48h to be cleared!!!

Usually US -> Europe takes about 1 week.

The Thai Banking system has been improved over the past few years. Most International direct deposits into Thailand now usually takes 48 hours or less. It's now becoming possible to use Thai ATM Debit Cards to make on-line purchases. Thai bank accounts can be now be linked to PayPal.

All this has happened since Thaksin was kicked out of office. Amazing Thailand!

    Paypal!!! That's cool! I didn't knew that!

  4. I just opened an account and got the ATM card with Kasikorn Bank.

Just bring my passport and my address in Pattaya, and in 20 min I got everything.

They do internet banking and I can choose my ATM pin too...

Very happy by my choice! Thanks for the advices!!!:clap2:

  5. I'm under a non-ED (student non immigrant visa) and I stay in Thai for at least 1 year.

I would like to have a local bank account, it would ease the rent and bill payments.

BUT, all the banks I go ask for a work permit, and I don't have.

Is there a place where they create bank accounts and give an ATM card to Foreigners. Anyone got some positive experience, so I could follow his path?

  6. There may be some kind of virus, because I got several friends (Thai and not) who got some stomach issue last week... it was maybe not from the Sushi.

I'm desperate to find good salmon Suhi though... it seems to be hard to find here in Pattaya.

Any clue about where to find some good - and fresh - ones?

  7. Good vid glad I was not caught in it :)

Can you check for existing threads threads next time please as this is already running Here and we don't like to open up multiple threads on the same subject, thanks.

yep, ok, I have posted the link into the other thread, I will check first next time.

  8. my fbf says i should help people if i can

Molly you are a good person and I appreciate that, but there are also a lot of people to help that are everywhere in the streets... maybe you should contact the red cross or any international association.

There are a lot of people who are suffering in prison, but a lot of them are also rapist and murderers... maybe help the ones who are outside and in the need so that they will not turn to become a criminal?

Join an association, or you may help people who do not deserve it. They are surely looking for volunteers...

    :jap:

  9. Your report is interesting except for the fact that there is NO such thing as a 90 day "Tourist Visa" :( .

I think they meant that they got a 90 day tourist visa for Malaysia when arriving- hence the comment about them not being so picky as Thailand is with tourists. I might be wrong but that's the way it read to me-

When you arrive at Pinang, you get a 90 days tourist visa. It is interesting to notice that Malaysia is not as picky as Thailand with Tourists.

Yes totally right. Thailand gives a 30 days tourist visa when you enter in, Malaysia a 90 days visa... big difference!!!:realangry:

  10. Your report is interesting except for the fact that there is NO such thing as a 90 day "Tourist Visa" :( .

Either you got a Single Entry Non-Immigrant Type-ED visa (good for 90 days) or you got a Tourist Visa (good for 60 days). It is one or the other.

Actually, if you got the paperwork from the Walen School of Thai in Pattaya, and went to Penang; you would have gotten a 90 day Single Entry Non-Immigrant Type-ED visa. :)

You are right  sorry for the confusion, I got a single entry Non-ED good for 90 days. After that I need to get an extension every 3 months (cost 1900 baths) at the Thai consulate in Jomtien. Wallen School will provide me the paperwork for the extension..

And when I entered in Thailand the Tourist visa was 30 days (only) I think it is the norm...

About the visa run, I have seen these company, cost is around 2000 baths so it is very cheap, but 8 hours in bus to go and 8 hours in bus to come back was a bit of a turn off for me... I'm am not too much on budget and it was the opportunity to visit Pinang (or Panang)... it was a nice trip, I think better than a visa run. It would have cost a lot more to do it from Europe, Thailand situation in Asia is fantastic for visiting surrounding Countries!

  11. I am French and I know very well Carrefour.

A newbie, I think you are not French, but maybe the banned Rucharee.
