  1. I have learned to size people up for Trustworthiness and Reliability and Rhys is both if you need help he the Guy to go to. That just my 2 cents

I would second that nothing but first class service in my experience with Assist Thai Visa over the last 3 years. They are by far the best Visa Company in Chiang Mai.

  2. Will someone please tell me how much does Thai Assist charge for the initial extension of visa application based on retirement. Thai Assist would not tell me on the phone.

According to post 119 -THB 5 thousand.

Sorry just checked my receipt yes 5,000 baht last time old age, memory not what it used to be 555.

  3. It really comes down to what each person thinks it is worth to not have to get ready make your way down to Immigration wait for between 1 minute and 30 minutes then make your way back to where you are going 4 times a year that will add up to quite a few hours. I do not think 1,500 Baht is excessive even though it as increased 50% I personally thought 1,0000 baht was cheap. It would cost me more than 375 baht per trip in transport costs and the cost of my time for maybe 1.5 hours a time. Which I can spend doing more than making a trip to the Immigration Office when I do not have to, but that is my personal choice.

  4. I think he's left a train wreck behind in terms of the players we have in our squad now. Having watched the likes of Norwich, Cardiff, Palace, Hull and Newcastle this season, I am struggling to find anyone who is not passing, defending, crossing and shooting as badly as us .... relegations looms for whoever takes over.

That said I'd like to go down playing nice football, so I'd give the job to Gus Poyet, but I know we'll end up with Pulis or McLaren!!

Come on its only 5 games and it is hard for me to say but you do have some decent players you will not go down you will just escape same as us . But we will finish above you and win both derby matches even with big Joe Kinnear pulling Pardews strings.

  5. I disagree. Most health insurers in Thailand drop you at 65. As in no insurance cover after 65 even for long time clients. BUPA will cover after 65 but only if you sign up before your 60th birthday.
From Thai Health website "2. Eligible to apply for the first year coverage from 15 days up to 65 years of age, renewable up to 80 years of age for IPD and up to 70 years of age for OPD."

My old neighbor (American guy) was 73 when he was dropped by his health insurance provider in Thailand. Don't recall which one. That was only after they had paid about 3 million Baht in claims for numerous heart surgeries he had. That was also when left Thailand after 37 years here and he went back to the USA.

I have had confirmation direct from a few medical company's.

As long as you join up before you are 65 they will cover up to the maximum on the policy's.

What pre conditions apply and what is the increase on premiums each year?

  6. Thank you for all the reply's,just spoke to Gary and he sorted out my car insurance straight away.As far as hes concerned its business as usual.PM me if you want his contact details in Bangkok.

How can it be business as usual ,when Gary is no longer a staff member of AA ?

p.s ,Is Gary the very fat Scouse man in his 50s ? If so i hated the way he treated his Thai female staff .He talked to them like a bully boy..

    That's the man.

I think that will be Peter not Gary.
  8. On my next appointment in September,I need to renew registration,

my name is in the system and you have to renew every 12 months,

I just hope nothing has changed.I also have BUPA,but that does

not cover outpatient or medicine, also so many exclusions, you

wonder what you could actually claim for,if you have hypertension and

you fall ill ,they could say that illness is the result of hypertension,

and it would not be easy to prove it was not,I trust Insurance co.,

about the same as I trust the banks, the fine print always works

    in their favour.

    regards Worgeordie

Hypertension will rule you out of most causes of illness as will high cholesterol; levels. If you have had these problems in the past and have been treated for them then in my opinion your treatments on any insurance will be very limited in what the insurance company will be willing to pay for.

  9. We checked at our amphur a couple of weeks ago and they said we could not get insurance with a yello book.

Sent from my i-mobile IQ 6 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I also re-iterate that you can not get free Health insurance any more. I had this this facility card given me a long time ago and now I tried to use it because of my age since I can no longer get insurance. They told me that now they are not letting foreigners use this service any more. However I was told because I already have the card that I can still use it only at the small hospital that I was registered but no-where else even for a refferal. But this Hospital has very limited facilities and very little medicine so without a refferal it is not much use. I now have moved to another district and I am told that they will no longer allow foriegners to transfer to another hospital where they live. Basically they are trying to stop forieners fron using th cards that were probably issued to them in error by hospitals that were not fully aware of the procedures. And they will not issue any more. I was told this by the Hospital manager a week ago when I tried to transfer my card to another hospital where I live,

Thanks for sharing this, Gamini. This is exactly the situation for some other foreigners -- yes, they do receive "free Thai health care", but it's only at a poorly equipped local hospital. Unfortunately, some of these people either have never checked out the restrictions like Gamini has and/or they're in denial. They're in for a rude, and potentially life-threatening awakening when they try to self-refer to a higher level government hospital. What's even worse is that some of these folk continue to perpetuate the myth that a foreigner can get free health care simply by having a yellow book -- after all, they're getting it, aren't they?

I would suggest that all farangs put a substantial amount of money into a fixed interest account and leave it there for medical expenses.

Each year watch it grow and you will also save the insurance premiums each year which you could also add them to the account each year.. Then when or if you need some medical treatment draw on it .Get one of the accident insurances to cover you for any small accident they are cheap enough to get.. At the end all farangs are going to be without insurance due to age at some point in there lives.

  10. What I was told was there was a time when a foreign husband or wife of a Thai who was in the country under a spouse based visa and obtained a yellow book showing there residence in Thailand was added into the registry when the Yellow book is processed in Bangkok . At that time there ID number was placed into the health care system and allowed them to get care under the 30 baht plan . I was told since then they have stopped adding the ID numbers into the system in Bangkok . So when you go to the hospital show them the yellow book they attempt to enter your ID number but the computer will not except it . Thats what happened to me and I was standing right there at the computer when she tried . She went on to say that those already in the system where being honored ... So if you got on it good for you .... Still if I just got a yellow book I would still attempt to get on it , never hurts to try . Again if someone else knows different share it with everyone .

again anyone can try but if your first number of the 6 is a 0 you will not be accepted ,your ID number is still in the system but you cannot get free health treatment.

  11. Free health insurance is only for Thais and permanent residents. Quite frankly I can't see any beneifit of having a yellow housebook and it it is certainly not "coveted" by any expat who has been here long enough to know that it gives no avantage over those who dont have one.

It has the advantage of never needing to go and obtain a certificate of residence, so that is definitely one more advantage than zero. Perhaps I haven't been here long enough to understand though!

Not all government agencies will accept it or give you Thai price for admission. (Fact)

Which are the government agencies that will not accept it I have not come across any up to now that do not accept the yellow book.
