  1. Abhisit is a divisive figure. Why don't they tell him to shut up, just like they told the red lot to shut up?

Seems he has been given a forum in the censored press to pontificate, but nobody else has been given that privilege.

They don't tell him to shut up because he's being constructive rather than just whining.

Regardless of what he says, isn't this supposed to be a time of reconciliation, where all political sides are told to shut up until the situation returns to "normal"? Reconciliation will be harder to achieve if one of the core supporters of leaders of the yellow shirts is allowed to have his say, repeatedly, while others are not.

As others have said here, he is a mere puppet of the military and has never been elected, so maybe this is just a sign of the military's true colours?

Thanet, are you a complete fool or did you just get out of bed too early today ? Abhisit was elected twice... First he was an elected MP for his constituency . Then he was elected a second time as the Prime Minister by all the sitting MPS. You should get your facts right before spouting of like some deranged ass-ho. wai2.gif

  2. members with military backgrounds are close and trusted colleagues of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha

General Prayuth, who has retained his seats as head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and Army commander-in-chief.

I get the coup thing-o, many Thais seem to be happy, I was a bit surprised when the military now call them selves as elected civilian Gov however.

    Come in guys,,,,It certainly was a " GENERAL Election"...clap2.gif

One million bond ? Probably cash he made from the theft in the first place. Anyhow, did he loose any assets which resulted from the theft.[/quote

One hundred thousand .... you certainly are an old sailor and must have been bent over the barrel one time too many... to turn that amount into one million... within 5 or 6 posts... but Red Apologists do tend to exagerate quite a lot ..

..it would be the best thing to ever happen and be the making of Thailand for the next 200 years. They should go for it.

Agree with you for the first time... This canal should have been built long ago... I thought two major Chinese companies had got together and put a proposal to the Thai government to build and fund it privately. Sure I read that proposal on here.... Singapore has been fighting against this canal for a long time. I have read also that certain Singaporean companies have paid and bribed one or two previous Thai prime ministers to forget this project ..

  5. Exactly. The NLA can make up and then enforce whatever rules it wants. this is what happens when you throw out the constitution. I wonder in a few years when the next coup happens or if amazingly there are actually free elections, what laws or retribution the NLA and the junta might face. What has happened to previous coup leaders and their administrations?

Nothing. Section 48 of the interim constitution refers. Do not expect this section to disappear in the "new" constitution.

Section 48. All acts which have been done in relation to the seizure and control of the administration of State affairs on the 22nd Day of May B.E. 2557 (2014) of the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order and the National Council for Peace and Order, including all acts which have been done by any person in connection with the aforesaid acts, or by the person who has been entrusted or ordered by the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order or the National Council for Peace and Order, for the fulfilment of such purposes, regardless of their legislative, executive or judicial force, as well as any punishment and other acts performed in relation to the administration of State affairs and whether the actors of those act are principals, accessories, persons who employ another to commit those acts or the employed persons and whether those acts done before or after the date mentioned above, if the aforesaid acts were illegal, all related person shall be exempted from being offenders and shall be exempted from all liabilities.

The previous Junta written constitution (2007) had a similar amnesty clause, Section 309.

And.... what's your point ..? ................... It is a military coup. what do you expect... Campbells soup..? w00t.gif

  6. Get a lease contract on the building, Then you can work on the building (renovate)

as simple as a dated and signed recipt, but to actualy work in the building once in

buisiness then you need a work permit.

The same as if you rent a house in your name or as a tenant with recipt, you can renovate it !

You can work on your home, but cannot work on rental properties you may own and cannot work on commercial buildings. Only on the home you live in and own. You also cannot work on a house that you are renting from another person. The renter is responsible for that work. And you cannot work on your house if that means you have to be on someone elses land ie, you cannot paint the outside of your fence. Strange laws in Thailand so be carefull ... get contractors in.. easy. deagobert, are you trying to get this op in trouble.. You cannot renovate by yourself as a tennent, that work is the responsibility of the owner. But the fine is only 110,000 bahts.. first offence. clap2.gif

  7. I know a lot of Thai's across the community from fairly High So's to the dirt poorest people living in unsanitary old wooden homes in the sticks. I've not met one yet who is truly interested in what's best for the country; their main priority is what's best for them personally and/or their families. Getting enough money to improve lives is the main theme, and lets be honest, that's the main interest in just about any country. After all; when you lived in your own country did you spend much time thinking about 'what's best for the country ' ? I doubt it because personal survival always comes first.

In short; people want more money in their pockets to do things that will improve their lifestyles and unless any Government can provide enough of it and the ways and means of getting it honestly, the cycle of corruption and general unhappiness will continue.

Well Trainman, easy to see that your glass is half empty.. get a life mate..

  8. There is no way on this earth that a proper election will take place within one to two years... Thai peoples will be lucky to see another election for the people within three to five years.. There is going to be a rocky road ahead in Thai politics for sure, especially when Marshal Law is withdrawn. Fot us Farangs it is easy, just sit back and watch .. we can leave any time..

  9. The only reason Democracy is difgicult in Thailand is due to the Dem/ Military "Allegiance". Its an obvious pattern time & time agsin. Dems are minority/ wamt power/ Cause political turmoil as a setup/ prelude for the "Brother" military to step in. It it endless!!

Not quite that simple Drand.... TRT and PTP were given a fair chance to rule here.. they just could not stop the theivery ! Quite the opposite, it grew and grew and corruption ran rife. The middle classes who were watching their tax-moneys dissapear into the Thaksin gangs bank accounts had had enough ... Up comes Suthep. If Yinluck had been strong enough to stop the looting by her brothers cronies this coup would NEVER have happened. PTP certainly failed the peoples miserably. Something had to happen and what the Thai peoples have now is the result. I do however have a feeling that this coup was very well planned coming from The Privy Council all the way down to the foot soldiers. Prem and Cha-och-a spent a lot of time organising the rout of PTP... but PTP had their chance and completely let down their voters and asked for what came.

I personally do not like the Thai situation as it is and I am thinking of selling up and moving on.blink.png

  10. This was going to be the inevitable outcome - the Junta are not accountable to anyone - I recently read the the NACC said the opposite.

I do not see democracy being restored next year.

Democracy was NEVER here to be restored.... and this is the timescale.. Prayuth will become prime minister in September, Thailand will have an interim government which will be in place for at least three years.(at least) . Asean will never happen to its full purpose. There will not be an election until those up there say so. Get used to the Junta. Very dangerous situation for Thailand.

Caught between a rock and a hard place !.... comes to mind.wai2.gif

  11. Gives the Junta a bit of a difficult balancing act. If they are too zealous in their pursuit of her they will alienate her supporters whilst if they aren't forceful enough they will alienate their own supporters. And if she is found not guilty, then there this in effect means there was very little legal and political justification for the coup.

How do you achieve political reconciliation whilst prosecuting the leader of the last democratically elected government? Bit of a paradox.

jonclark.... go look at yourself in a mirror..   Yinluck was NOT democratically elected , she was bought into power so you could say corruption pure corruption got her into power.  What do you think this military coup is all about..  Wake up....wai2.gif

  12. You people are a sorrowful bunch.   Last night you stayed up hoping she wouldn't return so you can make your ugly comments.  Now she comes back and you start your insults.   Very disgusting group of people here.

Thai immigration have as yet Not said Yinluck is back in Thailand.  So far it is only a rumour .  So let's wait and see if it was her or Elvis.  And Mango I hope you include yourself in that last group of people you mentioned. Because you are certainly one of the first bunch you mentioned.thumbsup.gif

If there was corruption in the rice scheme, what did the NCPO do to close these loop  holes before paying the 90 bn baht that the farmers were owed?

The monies were paid to the farmers not those running the rice pledging scam scheme.

    Shame on you sir.

Surely you aren't insinuating that it was the farmers that were corrupt are you, and as a result of course the power's that were were indeed totally innocent of any misdeeds?

Herein lies the corruption charges ......   Most of the tax-payers monies that were lost in the rice-pledging scheme were NOT paid to farmers ...  in fact very little of the monies were paid directly to farmers..  certain people in power were running tons and tons of cheap rice from Cambodia and Myanmar and selling it at a huge profit to the PTP government. Also many millers bought up bad quality rice from farmers and sold it as high quality to the scheme..  There were so many different scams going on within the rice pledging scheme, most all initiated by members of the PTP ..  and their families..    follow the money trail is where the evidence lies...

  14. The British Embassy, despite huge pressure, appears to have done absolutely nothing to help. A call several weeks after the kidnap saw an embassy official telling the father that the official dealing with his file was on vacation, nothing was being done.

Why did we not sell all the land the Brit Embassy is on and send the whole bunch back home - they are nothing but a disgrace and a total wast of taxpayers money.

Workers at the British Embassy do absolutely nothing ... All Embassy workers should be sacked and made to find real jobs.. Better burn the moneys used to fund British Embassies .. world wide...! There will be no Scottish Embassies....

  15. Along with the human trafficking the government or junta had better do something about the number of fishing vessels in Thai waters before they completely desecrate fish stocks. 10,000 trawlers is absolutely insane unsustainable when you take into account say western Canada which has much larger fishing grounds and has approx. 570 trawlers. These poor people won't be working long any way at this rate.

What the Thais class as a trawler is not quite the same as a Canadian Trawler..
