  1. Some guys like to feel important, but the truth is Farangs tourists (sex tourists) are not important to the Thai economy. Thai to Thai prostitution has a cash value of arount ten times that of Farang to Thai prostitution. Really us farangs are a sticky bunch. Also, all the beautiful and high class hookers only work in the Thai to Thai market. Us farangs we get the left over scraps. If you really want to see beautiful high class girls by the bucket load, visit some of the Big Thai clubs in Bangkok. If your credit card allows entry. The Farang sex industry , generates around .0001% of Thai tourism spending. But this is not counting all the lovely new houses some stupid farangs build for their faithful (when farang is away) lovely hooker girlfriends. But love is blind.

Has anyone NOT read Private Dancer ?

And, I think there is nothing wrong with falling in love with a Thai hooker, as long as you know the score and you are willing to accept that she will Never change. You can take the girl out of the bar, but you can NEVER take the bar out of the girl... Try a role reversal.... can you imagine a bald, fat, smelly Thai bar girl walking down town and thinking SHE is sexy..... but you do..! Haha... Great weekend to one and all of us...w00t.gif

  2. At Surin, rice inspectors have been divided into four teams to check 101 granaries containing 8.3 million sacks. On this third day they had not found anything unusual about these stocks.

meanwhile in Isaan all ok so far.

The missing rice is more likely to be in yellow/PDRC supporting mill owners granaries. Lets wait until the final audit.

All OK except that we haven't been paid for our rice yet and the bank has no idea when this will happen. Who cares about the colour,as a farang your political views are not only irrelevant they aren't wanted, it must make the Thai masters from both sides laugh to see the fanatical support that they get from their barely tolerated guests.

Sorry, but didn't the junta complete payment to everyone.

They completed the payments to farmers..... not to millers...

  3. Listen guys, Veera might be a bit of an idiot but he does love Thailand. He has been well and truly punished for his stupid deeds. However his friends threw a wee party to welcome him home. Nothing wrong with that in my book. Lets hope him and his friends can now help Thailand to move forward. Thailand needs everyone shoulder to the wheel...

  4. Prayuth in reality has to take the position .

There at this moment in time cannot be any remote possibilty of any political figure from whatever political persusion being placed in the position of Prime Minister.

The matter is delicate and as I have said for a long time Thailand needs an interim period ( my feeling is some two years) in which to re-establish a somewhat cleaner political, civil legal and far less corrupt society.

We are not in my lifetime anyway, nor my childrens either for that matter likely to see corruption swept away, it will always be with us to a lesser degre as it is in every other national society in our world.

The second possibility involves Prayuth retiring and appointing his most trusted aide to be Army chief while he would continue as NCPO chief and PM to balance his power.

The above scenario in my view would be the best way to go,

Thailand is at a crossroads politically and socially, the route taken in the very near future will decide the future of Thailand and its peoples.

Which road is the right road?

    Indeed a vexing question.

The only road is a democratic 1 man 1 vote way. The only problem is how can thais trust anybody at the moment, they are all crooks

Bernard , how long have you been here, this current situation was caused by 1 man , 1 vote... In Thailand that cannot be the way forward for the time being. The whole of Issan and the North of Thailand will, and do vote for who they are told to vote for by the village and town headmen. Its society there. Before this coup every headman in that area was given one million bahts minimum every year by PTP. So , who do you think the peoples were going to vote for. In those areas the peoples are bombarded by Red TV and Red Radio, and the Red Propaganda machine. They do not know what the truth is. Now is the time to disband that mechanism and allow all parties and candidates for any party to canvass where they like. It will take time and as I saw in another post as in China, any person in a public job, should be severely dealt with if found guilty of corruption and fraud. And if in a position of power, should be stripped of all assets and prison for a long time.. make them think twice about lining their pockets.

  5. yes this couragous general and thailand do have two big problems they have to deal with.

He has to decide quickly, if the next PM, should have a few hundreds percent salary raise...

And also he has to decide if the next PM, should should get an amnesty for any previous wrongdoing...

But actually he is too busing counting missing rice.whistling.gif

Another waste of good words...!! God love us..!!!!!

  6. Ok, it's annoying, but taxi drivers should not be prosecuted for refusing fares. It's their car, it's their source of income, it's their decision. And yes I've been refused, but I've also walked away from taxis where the driver was clearly drunk or looked exhausted from working too long. Choice is a two way street with taxis.

Driving recklessly, now, that's completely different. Ban them for that, refusing a fare is one thing, endangering others a totally different one.

Its not about refusing fares that is the issue, Its about refusing to switch their meters on. And asking a fixed price which is way above the metered fare. But in reality they should not be able to refuse a customer unless of drunkenness or some other good reason. But to refuse a fare because the journey is too short is against their taxi licence rules, after all a taxi driver is in a way a public servant as his licence is granted by a public office.

The police should be cracking down on the illegal taxis , the yaba-fuelled drivers and the dirty broken taxis that are not fit for the roads.. Thats my lean on it... but who cares what another Farang thinks..? whistling.gif

  7. So much rice was sold out of these warehouses "out the back door" , but the millers and warehouse owners have had a long time to re-stock what they stole as everyone and his dog knew this inspection was on the cards. However most of the replaced rice has come from Cambodia . I have a contact in Surin who has been running 4 trucks 24 hours a day , bringing in rice to refill the warehouses although all stopped just as the Junta padlocked all the warehouses and put a watch on them. But this is Thailand and corruption is everywhere. Follow the money trail which is where the Damning evidence willcome from. smile.png

  8. Instead of going into the Dawei story which Ms. Yingluck tried to promote so enthousiastically, let's return to the Prayuth - HunSen talk which resulted in a 'stray' yellow being released only to be brought to court to hear charges. Allegedly that is, he might have stood outside while his legal representative did the paperwork. K. Veera was proberly a bit out of touch otherwise k. Suthep could have told him to expect such from the helpful NCPO.

Darling Yinluck did her very best to bring back on board the Japanese investors because and for one reason only, that her brother has bought up all the land around the bay in which the deep sea port was to be built, And that reason is why the investors pulled out of the deal in the first place. Shinewatra greed again spoiled what could be a fantastic project for Asia and for the Burmese peoples. whistling.gif

  10. Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva would offer his suggestions in person to the NCPO

Exactly why politicial parties should be part (not the whole) of the politicial reform so everything is out in the open and buy in is from everyone. Here we have the Democrats already wanting their ideas presented to the NCPO by Abhisit. Abhisit and the Democrats have already shown with their presentations prior to the Junta kicking all their asses out that the Dems think that their sh!t don't stink and everyone elses does and that the Dems have the only answer that is worth pursuing. Good way to keep the rift between the lot of them by going into open brain storming sessions with preconceived ideas that your way is the only way.

Khun Prayuth should thank the Dems for their support of his reforms to date, and tell these Dem p!sswits the truth that their crap stinks to, and this is the Junta's process, that any of their presentations will be to the open forum for consideration, and they along with all other politicial groups will be coming with open learning minds or exclude them from partaking in the reform process full stop.

I read you Roadman.... the problem with your post is however that the Dems reform ideas were very good ideas... and a terrific starting point.. Its a long road to reform and the first step is the beginning. There has to be a beginning. wai2.gif

  11. You can do a maximum of 3 more border crossings now as you have already had one 30 day visa exemption stamp when you arrived. Ban Phu Nam Ron near Kanchanaburi is the easiest one if you live in Bangkok.. take a bus to Kanchanaburi and a taxi to the border, if you are from one of the G7 countries you will get 30days each time.

But regulations will change again on Aug 12th...

  12. Use the Australian POLYMER technology. The one the USA will not use eventhough it is safer and less prone to tampering and fraud. The USA do not use it as they did not invent it. Spoil sports! Many ASEAN countries are using our technology saving the very thing the BOI is on about.

Sorry but Polymer technology is NOT Australian.... Polymer banknotes were first used in Australia but now DeLa Ray a British PLC are the worlds biggest manufacturer of Polymer notes. Polymer technology has been around for a long time and there are many natural polymers.. No one is currently accredited with he invention of Polymer technology. But Australia were the first to use the banknotes made from plastic polymers. Almost everyone including the Yanks had this technology available. The Yanks love their dollars and I kinda like having them too.. wai2.gif

  13. The article talks about the difference in the lottery office ticket price and then what vendors resell them for.

Vendors resell them for around 100 to 110 baht. Anyway know what the vendor pays the lottery office per ticket?

The lottery tickets are bought and sold a few times before they hit the streets... You have to buy many millions of tickets but the man at the top who buys them direct from the lottery pays about 40bahts each . everyone one the road down makes a little .. and least profit to the street sellers many of whom are Cambodian and Myanmar.. they have to pay 90 bahts each ticket. Easy moneys if you have the contacts.. Thaksin desperately wanted to take this over for himself but was warned off.. But he certainly got his cut..
