There's a bunch of places in between those two extremes that you don't seem to know about. I only know of a couple here in the Big Smoke but I won't be sharing their names or locations. Not because I want to give the troll OP a free ride, I was just very drunk when my friends took me there at 2:00 in the morning and I have no idea where the hell they're located.

We obviously hang out in different circles. When any of my Thai friends say "let's go to a Thai restaurant" it means exactly that, a restaurant that serves a range of different Thai food and that has wait staff to run around after you. Preferably to to up your beer as soon as you've had a sip. You call that "Western style" for some reason. I'm not sure that the West ever had the monopoly on that type of place. Heck they probably got the concept from the Chinese along with gunpowder and noodles. Also the OP is either a troll or an influencer looking for a free ride so I don't know why you'd waste your time asking them about something they could have easily included in their post.

I think the guy you're quoting doesn't know about the kind of places that, IMHO, the OP is likely referring to. He mentioned 50 baht pad Thai at a mall versus "400 baht" pad Thai at an unnamed establishment. He also thinks that a 40 baht chicken rice joint is a restaurant rather than a fast food joint where you go for a quick feed and then move on so they can turn tables. That's how they make their money, not from freeloaders who sit there for an hour thinking they're the only ones that discovered the joint. I don't think he knows that there are Thais who have a decent amount of money and who patronise mid-to-exoensive Thai restaurants. I've been to many of them and I usually see other tables with big groups of Thais who prefer more dishes than you can count. it makes me jealous sometimes, especially when the head of the table pulls out a stack of greys to pay for it all ???? He also thinks that chicken rice is Thai food so I don't put much stock in his opinions.

I assumed she was talking about those big ol' restaurants where the Thais go to eat and drink. My buddy's Thai wife takes us to them whenever we are off traveling together. Chang or Singh beer towers and all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff that you rarely hear whitey talking about in here, most of them only know pad Thai and massaman curry. Certainly not for 40 baht a plate and you better being your cheque book if you're the big boss and it's your turn to pay.

You're getting negative responses because some of us think you are a troll. You all the boxes in that regard; just joined, multiple usernames posting the same topic, avatar is a picture of a decent looking girl, asking white dudes about "Thai restaurants" ????

tl;dr SIM roaming is the easiest method.

France to ban female students from wearing abayas in state schools

They don't need to use bombs, all they need to do is out breed the dhimmi and from what I know based on my upbringing in South Western Sydney they're damn good at it too. One of my younger sisters was told this about 30-odd years ago at some craphole called Bankstown Girls High. Needless to say she dropped out of school at sixteen and fled to the inner city. You're living in a fantasy land if you think there's anything benign about Islam. The "holy" Qur'an and the nonsense that came after it and abrogated it is a road map for Arab Supremacy. Worldwide caliphate ring any bells? I'd tell you more about what I've seen firsthand but I think I'm wasting my time; you've already drunk the Kool-Aid. -

They have to wear a long dress otherwise they'll get raped. Case in point: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-412697/Outrage-Muslim-cleric-likens-women-uncovered-meat.html#:~:text=In a Ramadam sermon in,and gives you 65 years. -

Then you know absolutely nothing at all about how their sleeper cell society works. Username does NOT check out ???? -
Samsung S22+ with latest Android version and latest security patch. All the appropriate settings and permissions enabled. Vodafone AU SIM which according to their website doesn't require pre-activation. WiFi is True Gigatex fibre router, 500/500. Airplane mode on AND WiFi toggled back on, which I had to Google seeing as how you didn't mention it. No dice, just annoying "Turn off airplane mode to make this call" message. I'm happy for you that it works out of the box but your experience is not universal. SIM roaming is the K.I.S.S. approach and has worked fine for me for the last two years and is most likely the least mess, least fuss option for the OP.

What's there to know? Lamyai, Paper Planes and watered down mor lam which ain't even Thai to begin with. Just like som tam and larb ????
-
Why donate, if they want your carcass to carve up then make them pay. Make sure it's at least ten tints what they'll pay for a Thai cadaver ????

Depending on WiFi is loso. You have to beg for the password everywhere you go. I have a friend who does that and it's totes embarrassment. Also WiFi calling just flat out doesn't work on some phone/networks so SIM roaming with data turned off and rejecting incoming calls is much, much simpler.

So without pics, how do you know if the stuff is gross or not before you order it? ????

Thanks, I'll look it up. I only ever heard the name from a guy at work, he mentioned it when we were talking about pide. I'm not a massive pide fan, too much dough for my liking. Dunno if that's an actual Turkish thing or just a Western Sydney thing ????
-
No, I'm referring to "Italian style" pizza made with the round shape and using tomato sauce as the base. However, instead of the usual Italian toppings they use Turkish style toppings like halal ham and pepperoni. Or maybe they do an "Italian style" pizza like anchovies and olives but it has a more Middle Eastern taste to it. The place I used to order from until it went downhill also made pides with the usual ingredients like lahmacun, sujuk, eggs etc. However they never put any of the pide toppings on the pizzas, as far as I remember. And kebabs of course, that's where they got the bright idea to make a kebab meat pizza. The beef one has olives on it I think, and the chicken one had pineapple. A great big greasy tasty mess and proof that you can put just about any ol' damn thing on a pizza as long as you make it with delicious, quality ingredients.

Fo' sho' Forest Gump is his daddy.

No, not taking about pide, I was referring to what we call "Turkish pizza" in Sydney. Pizza made with dough just like mamma used to make but then they put on all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff like marinated lamb, olives and feta cheese, or kebab meat. And, God forbid, pineapple! ????

No, it's you who know nothing with such a hateful comment like that. Tuk tuk drivers are hustlers but they do it out on the street instead of in the board room. I'm sorry for you that you can't handle the in-your-face capitalism despite (presumably) living here for a while.
-
Why, because it makes too much sense? So you're happy to hand over tens of thousands of baht over the course of your life to already mega-rich corporations but you begrudge a tuk tuk driver a few extra baht when he's doing essentially the same as the corporation, just up close and personal? Methinks you're not as smart as you think you are.
-
Someone who wants to be an Italian snob. I don't know why you say that a Hawaiian pizza is crap food, I have them occasionally and when done correctly they are very tasty and probably less unhealthier than say a pepperoni or sausage pizza. Also if you haven't had a kebab meat pizza from a Turkish joint, or a Halal Snack Pack with garlic and chili sauce, then you haven't lived. Same goes for Lebanese breakfast pizza aka manoush. I'm sure the Italians turn their nose up at that too. "you can't put marinated lamb and halloumi cheese on a pizza, wah wah wah". Oh yes you can...
-
Gotcha. I thought you might have been taking about something you could buy here in Thailand for use around the world. All I've seen are less than generous roaming packages from AIS and True.
-
And yet you're being taken for a fool by CP et al every time you make a purchase at a 7-Eleven or any of the other big names. At least the tuk tuk guys are honest about ripping you off.
