He probably lives in a Lily White Liberal area (note most leafy suburb liberals who are so keen on immigration and multiculturalism don't live with it). It is an inverse relationship - the further they are away from it the more they espouse the benefits.

I once moved from East London (UK) to Islington where all the Liberals live. I can't tell you how different it is.

Perhaps. He may have lived there and thought it was Paradise aka Al Jannah 😉. Some people only see what they want to see and not the reality.

I would have gone into details in my OP to back up my position but they'll fall on deaf ears so I won't bother.

Kasokirn in the Bluport Mall..  Ive found the staff to be very polite and helpful ..    there is also a branch down the road on Petkasem and soi 68/1

also extremely polite and helpful ( and they open earlier than the mall branch )  Mobil app works like a charm and I've used in while in the U.S

Oops you seem to have had a quote malfunction, I didn't write the bit about the allegedly rude bank staff 😉

You can transit Kuala Lumpur KLIA2 Air Asia without going through immigration and return to Thailand OK. I just did it in November (and pre covid). There is access to the upstairs departure area near the immigration arrival hall although it is a little obscure, I can't remember seeing a sign but I imagine there is one for 'departures'.

Interesting. I'm surprised that you got away with it because conventional wisdom says that you need to clear Immigration in the arrival country otherwise you'll be denied entry upon your return to Thailand. Or you won't get checked in in the first place.

I don't think it's something I'd be willing to chance but then again i don't have a pressing need to do same-day "out/ins".

Have you done this more than once or was the experience you related a one-off?

PS. If you're going to quote someone on here then please use the built-in quote function. That way the person you are responding to will receive a notification that you replied to their post.

The staff is surely more polite in smaller areas of Thailand. I just recall how rude the lady was in Bangkok Bank branch in Hua Hin in the basement of a swanky mall (don't remember the name). Far more polite staff in Bangkok Bank in Bangkok in various areas.

Hua Hin IS a smaller area of Thailand 😉

  5. Why do you all keep calling it Penang curry? Wikipedia spells it as "Phanaeng".

'The etymology of the word phanaeng is unknown, but it may derive from the Malay word panggang, meaning "grilled."'

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phanaeng

That is somewhat different to "Penang" which is the Malay name for the areca nut.

"The name Penang comes from the modern Malay name Pulau Pinang which means 'areca nut island'."

inb4: if you think Wikipedia is full of it then cite credible academic sources or get off my lawn 🤣

    And you should be regretting.

So takes whole day to get to Krabi immigration....

It's going to be that also to fly to KL and back.

BTW for future plans ...don't do a bounce to another country via air and back same day.

If you have any history immigration at airport at reentry to Thailand can quiz.

Better option if immigration in person was a hassle was to use an agent.

Not expensive and you no need to attend.

Thanks for stepping in, I was lost to the Suk this evening 😅

Sorry so just to be sure, if I pass immigration into Malaysia then fly to Bangkok I will get another entry Visa for 30 days, I only need it for 8 days and I do have an departure flight booked. Also both flights arrive and depart in KL terminal 2, so I will pass through immigration there hopefully.

Before I attempt to answer that question would you mind looking at the attached info page from the Thai MFA and tell us which category you can under?

Presumably it's the "Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme" but best to make sure.

Yes I am flying AirAsia from Krabi and to Bangkok, I am almost sure I will pass immigration into Malaysia just to be on the safe side, was just hoping to avoid it as there is always huge queues.

You have no choice but to clear Immigration in KUL, you cannot just "turn around and come back".

Also, are you aware there is a new online arrival system for Malaysia? I don't have the link handy but will look it up if necessary.

I have an Asus dual screen laptop, but it looks different to this 'Mistme' OEM laptop.  Is this a Chinese copy?

Very pleased with my Asus dual screen, but it wasn't bought off Lazada .... and I think it may be better to go to somewhere like Banana IT and get a genuine Asus on one of their deals.  I did notice some very slim, large (single) IPS screen, i5 Asus laptops in Banana on offer and starting from 9,800 THB.

It's also got a Celeron processor. "Googen" says that they are mai dee 😅

  10. Never. I no longer find it appealing and I can't stomach chillies. I know that there are many dishes that are not chilli-laden but I couldn't be bothered ferreting them out.

I do like the look of that Chiang Mai restaurant though, might have to trek up there from "KTM" one day to try it.
