A good friend of mine, originally from Wisconsin, moved from Chiang Mai to Ajijic about 5 years ago. He seems pretty happy there, a big factor for him was medical costs and the ability to be back in Wisconsin in just a few short hours, just in case. Happy new year!

Never met a Thai woman who wanted her own room, or her own bed even we just travel as friends!
We ended up in bed together, I just wanted her to know that it wasn't a condition.

It's a fact.
Thanks, I was just curious if that may be a motive. I think it's possible that a woman may want to better her situation by finding a man who could give her a more comfortable life. I see nothing wrong or predatory in that, same as buying a lottery ticket really. The difference would be in the expectations of both parties. I know when I met the woman who became my wife I asked her if she wanted to go on a vacation with me. I told her that we would share a room, but not necessarilly a bed. I had never been to Bangkok, Phuket or any of the other places we saw and neither had she. We had an excellent time, been together for 16 years now, but it could have been different, the very first sign of greed or financial reward would have scared me off.

Easy.
Elderly and overweight western men with often bad manners are a sex symbol in Thailand.
I wonder if there is, or ever was any truth to the story of some Thai women wanting a light skinned child from one of these short lived rendezvous. It was a popular story when I first arrived in Thailand.

Price isn't a big issue for me because I don't put on a lot of KMs, only 108,000 in 8 years. What I don't like to do is use a load of different fuels from diverse agents. I stick with PTT because there are so many that I can always find one. B7 is all I have ever used, with the exception of one tank of the Shell premium for comparison a few years ago. No noticeable difference to me.

If they work well enough to prevent the need for someone sticking a tube down my throat to enable breathing, that's effective enough for me.

Someone must do equipment maintenance at local gyms. I wonder if a gym in your area might steer you toward their go-to guy. Just a thought, good luck.

Amazing. What about all the people who booked Moderna shots up to 6 months ago and still haven't been inoculated?
I thought the PHA had set the price of Moderna jabs at 1650 baht so how comes 1400 baht? ????
I ordered Moderna @ 1,650 baht each for two jabs through the MorProm app. I had the Sinovac, Astra combo at McCormick and have been waiting for Moderna to arrive at Lanna hospital. I had my first jab Dec. 14, second jab scheduled for Jan. 11. I was asked which vaccinations I wanted them to show on the card they issue. I told them it didn't matter to me, but just to be clear, if I would rather not have the Sinovac show up on the certificate, would they refrain from putting it there. I was told that was the case. My card currently reflects the 3 jabs I've already received.

I had a Moderna jab last Wednesday, waited a few minutes, got the certificate. Said to my wife, yay! let's go home, she said let me see that, found the address to be incomplete, took it back to the desk and got it corrected. My passport number was correct and all but she probably saved me from a headache later on.

I was thinking about relocating to Mexico recently. We just spent some time there in Baja and Baja has three of the cities with some of the highest homicide rates in all of Mexico. The cartels are fighting for territory, America's ridiculous war on drugs is adding fuel to the fire, things do not seem to be getting any better.
The food was fantastic, the seafood was sublime, the people are cool, cities are decent, the cost of living higher than I would have thought, but the security situation is out of control. Heavily armed police were everywhere with machine guns, army trucks with 20 soldiers on the back with high caliber machine guns, and it's a very very insecure place at the moment.
In the last two years, three people have left the gym I go to in Chiang Mai for Mexico. All say they are happy with their decision to do so. I'm happy in Thailand, but if my marriage ends for any reason, I would have a look at Mexico.

I just got home from Immigration at Promenada. I did my 90 day report, told the officer that I tried to do it online but could not. He said "I think next year".

Might explain why my wise payment took 4-5 days the other month as opposed to the usual minutes
I use OFX to transfer money for my OA visa. Last 3 or 4 months it has been 5 days from time of transfer to delivery. I haven't bothered to ask why, but it's nice to know, thanks.

Oh, that time of the year is it? Yes...let's add to the pollution with a load of hot air! Blah blah blah.
When you're one of the major producers of smoke from burning, and it isn't mostly smallholder farmers just trying to survive but instead is massive agricultural conglomerates, many of whom are well represented both within leadership and as funders of the Thai government, and who similarly undertake these sorts of investments and operations IN those neighbouring countries, the level of hypocrisy rises well above the toxic threshold. Give me a break.
Looking forward to these committees pontificating meaninglessly as Chiang Mai chokes their way through March, April and May.Sorry about that, we must have been typing at the same time.

Maybe we English speaking countries who live in Thailand should try speaking some Thai. I bet we are worst then the Thais.
I was thinking along the same lines. When I arrived here in 2005 I was interested in learning the language. I never became proficient really, the tones were hard to master and I spent more time with fellow expats. I find I have regressed, I rarely speak Thai now. My Thai wife lived in Singapore for six years so we speak english in our home.

It will never happen. China is not capable of winning any conventional war against the US. They are a military power mostly because of the threat of mutual destruction through the use of nuclear weapons. The US military budget remains much larger than that of China.

So you're sitting at home in Illinois watching the news. You grab your weapon and head for Wisconsin. Obviously you believe that you are Davy Crockett heading for the Alamo. Arriving in Wisconsin, you hit the streets, claiming along the way that "it's my job". After killing one and wounding two, you claim self defense, just like you were still in Illinois minding your own business. Clearly acquittal will lead to people travelling to places like Charlotte for participation in riots. I hope this young man faces a severe penalty.

As much as I dislike the health minister for his comments about the cleanliness of Caucasians I must look at what the man has to say .
Like the man said , the Chinese vaccines have saved lives .
Many people posting incorrect information about the Chinese vaccines . Why ? Just plain bigotry most of the time .
I'm not a doctor or a scientist, don't know or care about Sinovac or Sinopharm. What I do care about is being allowed to travel to Canada sometime in the future. My home country does not recognize those vaccines, I can have a mix, but those two didn't make the team. Send them to the bench and insert the good stuff.

New immigration online appointment system
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Hope I'm in the right place to ask this question. I have to renew my OA retirement visa this month. Is it possible to make an appointment? Is there a checklist of required documents?
