The shop is located in the LPG station opposite immigration. The agent a lady named Ning and her phone number is, <contact by PM for it>. She gave me some prices, not sure if I'm allowed to post them though. Ning was the lady that arranged all the visas for foreign students and teachers at Payap university. As you can imagine, that has slowed down to the point that she has been laid off.

Gyms?
in Chiang Mai
14 hours ago, sqwakvfr said:How much do they charge for using the gym at Orchid hotel?
1 Day 400 Baht
1 Month 3000 Baht
3 Months 6000 Baht
6 Months 9000 Baht
This includes the use of the hotel pool. Gym also has lockers, showers and a dry sauna
Of this the rates are subject to change(especially after this latest shutdown). This gym meets all of my needs. It opens at 0600 and closes at 2100.
True, 12,000 baht per year, but for the last 3 years at least, they have had a promotion 3 people sign together it's 10,000 baht each. The kicker is, none of the 3 have to be a new member.

Aaah variety, the spice of life. Possibly death in this case, but at least it's different, not the same old, same old.

This is one of the RARE instances where I'm not going to immediately blame the driver. The rain was crazy, it's hard to really "test" your brakes beforehand, and when your brakes go..........well, it's too late.
I could ask for service records, etc......but let's not get crazy now.
i'm sure we'll blame him later, maybe going too fast for conditions, etc....but I've had brakes go before in a western country......not an accident, but scary.
Commercial vehicles are equipped with spring brakes. You need sufficient air pressure to release them. The air pressure falls the brakes are automatically applied. As far as checking them goes, climb under and check the travel, if there is more than one and a half inches of travel, correct the slack adjuster until the travel is within limits. So easy, but nobody wants to do it in the rain and it should be done at the beginning of every trip.

Classic cars of Lanna may be able to help. Some of the guys have had to transplant engines to keep cars on the road. One fellow got a certificate from Maejo University engineering program. Can't hurt to try, and you may meet some good people.

Gyms?
in Chiang Mai
I was turned away from the Orchid this morning as well. Thought to myself "perhaps time to have a look round". I joined there in June 2007 and have more or less ignored the fact that it has been going downhill. I will take this as an opportunity to shake things up a bit.

To get to a nice beach on Samui, you gotta walk through a resort. There are hardly any public entrances to beaches, with proper parking facilities. Phuket's beaches are much easier to get to. I even prefer the Khanom and Sichon beaches, than those on Samui. You can drive around the island for an hour with hardly seeing the sea. Also, a lot of restaurants and shops are closed .
A sore point for me as well at Chaweng, there was only one public access to the beach if you weren't at a beach front resort.

Also curious as to your thoughts behind this.
I might feel differently if I had ever taken my vehicle but I never have. Transportation around the Island spotty and expensive. Not a lot of entertainment venues. As I said, I like to visit, have done quite a few times, only once since they built the mall though. I live in Chiang Mai, Bangkok Air used to have a direct flight that was perfect, always stayed in Chaweng.

Hard to find a secluded beach on Samui. The island is overbuilt, and completely in decay. We spent 8 days on Samui last week, and can not imagine to retire there.
Love to visit for a week, not interested in living there. I'm not slamming the place, I really like it, but spending the rest of my life there, not so much.

“Tourists think that Thailand is beautiful, safe and that they can do anything they want here. That they can put on their bikinis and go anywhere they want. I ask, can you get away with wearing bikinis in Thailand? Unless you are not beautiful?” Prayuth said in a televised speech on Wednesday
Well, to be fair, there should be guidelines.

Another Canadian born and bred. My accountant has access to my CRA account. Once a year she sends me a PDF of my taxes and I send the government a cheque by registered mail. I have received no stimulus cheques whatsoever and I don't care. Just leave me alone is my motto.

Nothing like a little racism to brighten the day.
I don't believe that protecting your country from Chinese ownership is racism, I think it's survival. China can not feed itself. That is a fact, search "China buying farmland in Canada". The worlds second largest country with a population of 45,000,000 allowing the takeover of a huge swathe of Saskatchewan, which represents roughly 45% of Canadas agriculture.

What's the best way to get everyone on board with vaccines ...ummmm!!
Pay them, I'm not joking. In my father in law's village people would line up around the block for 100 baht, even if they had to take a vaccine to get it.

I can't get the app, or any other app because I refuse to get a "smart"phone. My wife photographs QR codes and signs us into department stores and the like. When I'm by myself I sign the book, enter my phone number and address and wave my hand in front of the temperature sensor. Works fine for me, nobody has refused my money yet. But, if a business did tell me that I wasn't allowed entry because I didn't meet their requirements, I wouldn't complain...their shop, their rules. It would be nice if they advertised their requirements before someone travelled 50 minutes to conduct business with them however.

We are a year into this pandemic and there are fewer than 100 deaths in Thailand. Thais have done exceptionally well, bravo for them. I just wonder whether their success has led to the poor vaccine rollout. Perhaps a government that thinks there is no panic because thousands are not ill and dying.

https://goo.gl/maps/iYf37hjc7rYeyX1s9It could be, all I really know is we were able to see the beach from the, what I will refer to as a combination Wat, museum and naval memorial. It was on a list that my wife said we should see. It was on a hill overlooking the sea and the road that led to the beach was lined with palm trees. I did find the name of the beach where we stayed 13 km north of town. I'll butcher the spelling Theung Wa Laen. Sorry about that, thankyou for your reply.

A few years ago my wife and I drove south along the coast from Prachuap and stayed in a nice beach front resort with some separate cabins. It was about 13 km north of Chumphon, I can't remember the name. We went into Chumphon the next day and had a good look around. We went to a tourist attraction that had something to do with the first Admiral of the Thai navy. From that location we were able to see a beautiful beach slightly to the south. Does anyone know the name of that beach? Thanks in advance for any help.
New Visa Service
in Chiang Mai

New lady ther, the name is We Visa. I seldom use an agent myself, but it is so near immigration it may come in handy.
