Truely rich foreigners are not interested in living or investing in third world countries with military governments and corrupt police and public officials.
Not to mention an AQI that frequently resides in the DANGER area. The first big spender to hit Chiang Mai is sure to say "they must be joking".

I just don't understand why. Soap and a good washing stops Covid!!!
Is Thailand denying science? : )
I would think tourists would be required to go to a soapy.
If they were, there would be a lot more tourists.

Depends partly on the parents and the family situation as well. There was an article my wife showed me on Thai media. The family had accepted a dowry from a 71 year old man for their 17 year old daughter. He was well off and apparently had land. My wife is 18 years younger than I. She was 35 when we met and I was 53. No dowry as such but I agreed to give her 3,000 baht per month to send to the parents, I have a real problem with paying cash for a wife.

I would think more than that, but perhaps that is the number of registered motorcycles. My father in law hasn't registered the bike he bought second hand from a neighbor years ago. Not sure about his drivers license, he has one of those licenses for life but it may not cover motorbikes.

My guess is that there will be several major changes to the plan before anything starts.
But just think of how many years ahead they will be in a decade. It's a miracle!

My wife and I used to fly direct to Samui from Chiang Mai on Bangkok Airways. We would stay at Al's Hut, the last time we stayed at Sun East. I used to get up early and walk the beach all the way to the rocks. One of my favorite places in Thailand, perhaps when the pandemic ends we'll go back. By the way it has the only Burger King I've been in that you could order a beer.

Will they be inviting the guy who blew his legs off back in 2012 whilst throwing a bomb at police in Bangkok as guest of honour to mark this momentous occasion?
I'm guessing no.

I love who Thailand chooses as its valued mates; China, Iran, Myanmar; what a bunch of crooks and terrorists.
I was considering a "Buy an Iranian a beer" campaign to celebrate the anniversary. Sounds like I should count you out????

it was the government's way of giving happiness to the people
I can think of a potential group of travelers that would make people happy, most of them are part of the government.

Surely the assailant was either on drugs or has a diminished mental capacity. No hope of redemption, put him down like a mad dog.

Is the last ranked country in a happiness list actually the saddest?
Should there be a cut off point in such a list because countries below that point can't be accurately described as happy?
I don't imagine there are very many people with a sunny outlook in Burma right now.

In order to simplify things, I thought I would put in the 800k instead of getting my Canadian Consular affidavit letter proving annual income from my tax return once a year.
Yet it appears the income method is far less hassle that the 800k method as they don't keep asking you several times a year if you still earn an income.
I've been reading the topic, thinking exactly the same thing. I go to the Canadian consulate with bank statements showing my income, get the income letter and take it to immigration. We are truly blessed to have consulates that will still issue the letters.

Seems to be a trend. The countries that rate highly in health care, environmental practices, being happy. Who'd a thunk it?

I'm absolutely sure you can back that amazing statement up with links to credible sources, right?
I don't believe that America is trailing anyone when it comes to military tech. It would be a big mistake to underestimate them.

I will indulge you with one fact.
The trade war caused economic pain on both sides and led to diversion of trade flows away from both China and the United States. As described by Heather Long at the Washington Post, “U.S. economic growth slowed, business investment froze, and companies didn’t hire as many people. Across the nation, a lot of farmers went bankrupt, and the manufacturing and freight transportation sectors have hit lows not seen since the last recession.
The allies were able to win WW2 mainly because the manufacturing base was able to convert to ship building, weapons manufacturing and airccraft production. Where are all the main manufacturers now, China. It would be them that had th factories to convert. Manufacturing needs to return to the U S, for jobs, security and defense.

China's sovereignty was a matter of principle and not to underestimate Beijing's determination to defend it.
China can not feed itself, hat water they have is polluted. They are buying land in other countries to produce food. Canada and Africa are two of the main ones.

Don't sell them land, don't buy their second rate manufactured products and don't travel in China. I believe they would be slightly more cooperative.

I have the same problem, so I went and bought a fan, took it to the gym and left it there. The manager understands that anyone can use it, but it's mine. This is the second fan, the first one lasted about 3 years.

Prison! There is no reason for me to go to prison, I don't do illegal things, but there it is. I wouldn't want to spend 20 minutes in a Thai prison.

Obviously not BIG dreamers. The economy, covid, no future in that. Launching spacecraft and satellites, perhaps from submarines, there's a dream worth having.
